I hope F32 LCI will have same tail lights shape as pre LCI, so retrofit will be possible.

Your comment is whats amazing dude, what exactly has changed except for the LED and possibly the headlight-grille integration? The car still has the same shape and form juding from a quick glance. The wagon isnt an M Sport either and looks as boring as usual..

The taillights should be retrofittable right? I mean, if they look good enough to be worth the change. Not for the sake of LED (whats up with the hysteria??)

LED headlights finally, welcome to 2015, better late than never. As for the rear LEDs there was never any excuses for not having them. What's the betting the next G generation of 3 series reverts back to tallow candles and oil lamps pre LCI?

330i and (///M?)340i are going to have some stiff competition from the new C450 AMG Sport and imminent S4 so here's hoping to see a 60-70BHP increase on both.

If you don't like the modern feel of LED's just wait until the next generation 3 series and we will be back to incandescent bulbs again.

It will. that would cost way to much to redesign the bumper, fender, trunk if the shape changes too much. most you may have to do is the trunk (similar to the e90 lci)

I'm surprised how 'minimal' this LCI is......no introduction of the arch vents as on the rest of the platform line up?

Does anyone else think the rear LED's look like big pink fish lips?

LCI's are usually minimal. IIRC I think the E9X LCI was the biggest change I've ever seen mid-cycle.

You are right, although I would argue e3x was a bigger change ...... I just assumed e9x was the 'way forward' as it is the last indicator we have for 3 series.

I think if BMW could, they would have changed the way the pre-LCI E90 looked. I know there were a lot of people were not pleased with the design (specifically the rear) especially being a successor to the E46. The LCI fixed a lot of things and improved the look to a lot of people. Perhaps that was the reason why it was such a significant update. Maybe or maybe not.

So will the 328 - i mean 330 get a bump in power? In looking at the wikipedia page on the B48 engine they are quoting 231 hp/258 ft/lbs but thats of course less than the current 328.

Seems to be more info out there on the B58 than the B48.

Your F30 could maybe get the jump on an E9x, but you're dreaming if you think you can keep up with a F8x, may the X-Drive will give you 20 - 30 feet, then its over.

In regards, to LCI...
The 3 series had huge changes that I agree where well worth waiting for, but the M was barely anything, $1000 for a new trunk lid, lights, and paint and you were set. F80 will like be the same story, nothing a little retrofitting can't do. I wouldn't wait another year+ for the LCI unless I was already planning to wait.

Another thing worth pointing out here:

Any components of the F30/F31/F34/F35/F80 effected by the LCI that are shared with F32/F33/F36/F82/F83 are candidates to get updated on the latter too. This would not generally be a factor with exterior parts, but changes to iDrive, HVAC, and sometimes even chassis/drivetrain, for example, should there be any, would generally fall into this category.

One past example is the updated iDrive for the E90/E91 LCI carried over immediately to the E92/E93 as well.

I really do not understand why everybody alternately creams their shorts or pulls out their hair over the presence/absence of LED tail lights. It surely must rank as the least important feature ever.

(and, yes, I have a car with LED lights and one without. Have absolutely no idea why I should care about them.....)

Looks like I'm holding off an ordering a 340i M-Sport now... And I guess I'm a sucker since I'll pay $1,900 for the Lighting Package
Makes me wonder why the M2 will debut with a tuned N55.

The Toyota Corolla has had it as an option for two years now. It's not adaptive, but they've offered LED lights, and they make a difference. I wish they had kept the straight LED bars in the back. I loved it when it was introduced on the e39.

In regards to blinkers it's absurd what BMW does with the 3 series. Incandescent blinkers, then LED for LCI, then back to incandescent with next generation.

Xenons should be standard, LED optional. Enough of this halogen crap on a car of this price range.

As long as the Audi and Mercedes do it, BMW is going to do it too. And I'm sure Audi and Mercedes are thinking the same. Regardless of what Cadillac, Lexus and to a lesser extent Jaguar are doing, the German 3 compete with each other in their own world. For something to seriously happen, one of these three will have to do it before the other two follow. It's been like this for some time now.
