Two weeks out of the shop for a bumper and she needs another.
Back in December I posted this thread: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1448336
A girl struck my parked car and did a number on my rear suspension, quarter panel, and bumper. The final repair bill came to just a little over $12,000, performed by Kuni Collision Center. Their lead estimator, Isaiah, is a rockstar to work with (I've had my cars taken there for years) and they always take good care of me. It was in the shop for 58 days between dealing with USAA's terrible claims process and waiting on parts. Made the insurance company pay for a 430i rental for two months, because fuck 'em. Hired a DV appraiser and sent the demand letter off to USAA (the other party's insurance) last week. That process is churning, but USAA is notoriously difficult to get DV out of, so this will likely end up going to small claims court at some point. But the best part is that not two weeks after getting the car back I got rear-ended again. This time the damage is much more minor, but she will need ANOTHER new bumper cover. Weeeee. My girlfriend and I went up to Mt. Hood (Government Camp to be specific) last weekend when it was snowing like crazy. Forecast was calling for 3+ feet up on the mountain so we wanted to go check it out and have some lunch. On the way back to Portland we decided to take US35 around Mt. Hood towards Hood River. Roads were covered in fresh snow, with 4-5 feet piled up against the guard rails from the plows, and near white-out blizzard conditions which made driving fun. The wagon is a beast in the snow with her Hakka R2's, so we didn't have any issues, though. We came around a corner and several people were in the road flagging cars down. They told us that the upcoming bend had iced over and that cars were getting wrecked so to drive very carefully. We noticed probably six cars had slid off the road or otherwise buried themselves into the bank of snow on the shoulder, so we pulled over to help out. We had brought with us our Maxsa Escaper Buddy traction mats from our Wrangler, tow straps, and a snow shovel, so we made quick work of digging people out and using the wagon to pull them loose. The number of people driving around in a fuckin' blizzard with only All-Season's and no chains (blatantly ignoring the numerous ODOT signs requiring traction devices) was astounding. Heads up, 4WD or AWD doesn't do fuck-all unless you have traction. Otherwise you're just going to spin four wheels instead of two. Midway through freeing a stuck Subaru Forester, an F150 came around the corner, lost traction, and began a slow motion but unstoppable slide towards the shoulder and into the back of my car. Unfortunately I was hooking up my tow strap when the guy started sliding so I wasn't in the car, else I probably could have moved the car out of the way in time. He bounced off the back bumper, thankfully missing my driver side quarter panel, and put just enough damage into it that it needs replacing. Lame. Nice guy, though. Very apologetic and cooperative. Still shouldn't have been driving up there without chains. The car will be headed back to the shop as soon as the claim is sorted and the parts are in, so hopefully it will only be there for a few days instead of two months this time. And hopefully I can avoid any more of this shit for a while. If nothing else, it'd be real great if someone could take out my front bumper, instead. There's enough rock chips that it could use replacing.

Nah, it happens to all of us and I'm always Captain Obvious here anyway so.... I felt like a pinball myself for a bit as I hit a deer (technically, it hit me on the side) in my Caddy back in 2016. Three days after picking the car up, I get rear ended by a guy changing his radio station and it was totaled. Two months after I bought this, a middle eastern man hit me in his Prius and sideswiped me bad. One more! A month after I pick up the repaired BMW, another God damn deer runs out and scrapes my back bumper in several places. One or two weeks after that, I hit something that flattened two tires. (looked like a broken skid and came up too fast to avoid) I decided to just buff out the deer scratches the best I could and just live with the rest that didn't come out as it gonna go to hell in a hand basket with me anyway

Third times a charm!! I hope not... I was involved in 3 accidents in 3 years, none my fault (other cars running stop light or stop sign, rear-ended), but my insurance company thought about dropping me. Thankfully it didn't happen. The body shop got good at matching the paint on my gold metallic VW Sun bug!

Don't mind me, I'm just over here paying $486/mo for car insurance. Progressive dropped me for having too many comp claims for all the not-at-fault vandalism on my 335i. That was neat.

Don't you just love the fact that it's the SUV/Truck drivers who do all the wrecking? Saw one on I90 at the SR18 interchange just yesterday - 40 feet off the road in a ditch (nasty slushy conditions). Trundled on by with my snows on my 335d.

Mt. Hood Brewing in Gov't Camp. Food was super on point. Had their Reuben flatbread and their flanken short ribs.

Good on you for being a Good Samaritan but I think you pushed your luck given the circumstances - it sounds like it was inevitable.
Let the tow truck take the risk and liability

Eh, we were half an hour from the closest town and miles from anything resembling cell service. Some of those people would have been pretty fucked, and it was no sweat off my back (mostly because it was 26 degrees).
