It was about 36k on the 2013 with sensatech that cracked, so about 3 years or so. BMW did a "goodwill" swap out, which was nice. It was the tan colored seats.

I had an E60 with leather, E90 with leatherette, E92 with leather and now F32 with leather. What I can say is, if you put conditioners and protectant on the leather, they last much longer. I been using Meguiars Gold Class Leather Conditioner since the E92 and it had kept the seats in top shape. This is important during summer if you park anywhere under the sun and the seats get baked by UV and heat

2016 428i GC at 30k miles with Sensatec, NOT a scratch on it. I always have women passengers and you know how they are.... shit I cringe with everytime when they get in slam the door and fiddling with everything with their long finger nails.

Unpopular opinion?

Speedcloth/Carbonstructure cloth is better than both leather and leatherette.

I just turned in a '16 528 that had Sensatec. I considered the seats overall to be just fine in terms of comfort but not of particularly good quality. For example, my headrest had deteriorated in the center from what I believe to be hair gel residue. (insert joke here.. I just use whatever axe has at Walgreens). But that was strange. Maybe I use too much hair gel.

Anyway to prior replies, it's a matter of opinion. Personally, not having Dakota leather on the car I just bought last week would have been a deal breaker for me. I had to have it and am glad I got it.
