Hearing about the SLEEP act that went into effect this year, is one of main reasons I went to MPPSK, instead of a cheaper aftermarket option... My inspection is due next month, and I'm curious if I will get any flack from a run of the mill inspection station over the MPPSK...

The question is this... If we are tuned with BM3 and we revert back to stock and lock (catless downpipe removed and OEM reinstalled), will we be able to pass NY inspection with all monitors ready? I'm reading a lot about ECU CAL mismatches (original ECU ID's not matching BM3 "stock" tune when flashed back to stock and locked) but haven't seen any definitive news.

Update on this thread... NY state has billed us for the new inspection machine, but at the same time also told us there will be a delay in sending out the machines. They also sent us the current style inspection stickers for next year. They were supposed to be printed on demand with this new machine. So for now all tunes are still ok |

NYS sucks balls they are trying to get rid of the enthusiast instead of getting rid of the criminals. Everyone should just register there car in florida where there is no inspection. I have all my cars registered there and I live in ny.

I’ve had my vehicle registered here for 5 years not a problem. I e had accidents and not a problem. You can have a vehicle with florida registration in Nyc without a problem.

There are a few threads where someone tried just flashing a stock tune without lock but failed due to CALID CVN mismatch. Other issue can be that the car had a previous tune when BM3 was flashed so the incorrect info was saved. Last potential issue is also if the car was originally tuned and BMW did a software update. Reflashing will not save that new data. I ran into this issue when when I had to take my F80 in for the 4G update. Contacted BM3 support prior to flashing and they had to reset my account so it could save the new ECU software version. |
