Hearing about the SLEEP act that went into effect this year, is one of main reasons I went to MPPSK, instead of a cheaper aftermarket option... My inspection is due next month, and I'm curious if I will get any flack from a run of the mill inspection station over the MPPSK...

The question is this... If we are tuned with BM3 and we revert back to stock and lock (catless downpipe removed and OEM reinstalled), will we be able to pass NY inspection with all monitors ready? I'm reading a lot about ECU CAL mismatches (original ECU ID's not matching BM3 "stock" tune when flashed back to stock and locked) but haven't seen any definitive news.

From my understanding, flashed to stock will pass.

Update on this thread...

NY state has billed us for the new inspection machine, but at the same time also told us there will be a delay in sending out the machines. They also sent us the current style inspection stickers for next year. They were supposed to be printed on demand with this new machine.

So for now all tunes are still ok

That's good news, but I'm afraid of what's to come for NY. I have a feeling we're headed down the CA path.

Yep. We just copy California. Everything is a money grab. And this new emissions crap and checksums verifications are because of diesel idiots rolling coal. We all get punished because of a select few in their tiny pee pee trucks

NYS sucks balls they are trying to get rid of the enthusiast instead of getting rid of the criminals. Everyone should just register there car in florida where there is no inspection. I have all my cars registered there and I live in ny.

So when you get into an accident in NY and you have to explain why you are there for more than 30 days and then the claim is denied....

I’ve had my vehicle registered here for 5 years not a problem. I e had accidents and not a problem. You can have a vehicle with florida registration in Nyc without a problem.

it's so dumb, I had them on my previous car, not even bothering with this one. Right when it went into effect I was getting pulled over constantly, although it seemed to slow down over time. Are you tuned/catless?

Can confirm, stock and lock with BM3 and drive enough to clear emissions monitors will pass California tests.

There are a few threads where someone tried just flashing a stock tune without lock but failed due to CALID CVN mismatch.

Other issue can be that the car had a previous tune when BM3 was flashed so the incorrect info was saved.

Last potential issue is also if the car was originally tuned and BMW did a software update. Reflashing will not save that new data. I ran into this issue when when I had to take my F80 in for the 4G update. Contacted BM3 support prior to flashing and they had to reset my account so it could save the new ECU software version.

Hi,
Going back to the original topic, if I have JB4 installed do I need to remove it when I go for inspection or just set it to map 0?

Thank you.
