Custom Paint w/ED
I'm thinking of asking for Fire Orange on my 435i ED order. Custom color runs $5,000 and Individual paint runs ~$2,000. So I have a couple of questions:
1. For those who order custom color on ED, what did you pay for the custom paint job? 2. Why is there such a large gap between Custom color and Individual paint? thanks, John |

Such a large difference in price because setting up an assembly line for one color on one car is extremely expensive. Instead of doing things in batches which manufacturers do, they have to stop the painting process and do your color only or if they have a special booth just for special colors again they have to pull your car aside off the line and do all the painting by itself and then put it back on the assembly line. Manufacturers are not set up for custom requests and if they offer it, they will make you pay to the extent they feel justified.
