If you weren't aware, our post-cat o2 sensor is a wide-band. it measures the A/F for the DME.

You're right, my mistake!
I bought a spare upstream a while ago just as precaution. FCP had a really good sale on them a year or two ago.

Yes, precat O2 is wideband, and post-cat is narrowband. Post-cat is used for more than just emissions monitoring as well, so you need both. It's a common misconception that you don't need the secondary O2 if you are catless. Just posting FYI

Making some good progress with my own custom tuning. Its incredibly fun to do if you have time. In LOVE with the bootmod3 Map Editor and lots of time logging and reading out there.

Finally dropped down to stage1 91 after getting sick of adding 2.5 gal of E85 every fill up. Log seems OK. It's a pretty weak log but I just wanted to verify timings and no knock. Im surprised the timing arent better.

STOCK (time 2.180)
STAGE1-91: (time 0.260)
STAGE1-93: (time 0.550)

Is there any way to get something like 15PSI target? Sucks to drop from 16 to 14 because the gas sucks here. I'd try an Ethanol map but the only one on BM3 is the Stage2+ E30. Google says its unwise to try that with stock cat.

Should I just accept my fate of adding E80 (as tested) to the 93 and using the 93 tune? Is it even a good idea to use E80 since the other 20% is junk gas?

Huh? There's definitely some confusion going on here...

BM3 has more than just the stage 2+ map or E30... They have stage 2 and probably even stage 1 (not sure about the latter no one ever logs it). Stage 2+ has nothing to do with DP persay, although DP is still required since it is for everything 2 and above, stage 2+ relies on HPFP. That extra 1psi is doing nothing if timing is worse. You need timing to make power. Slightly lower boost with more timing probably makes more power anyways.

Also why would you say the non-ethanol portion is "junk gas" - what is that based on?

The ethanol maps makes the most power so if you are mixing E85 already you might as well the E30 map appropriate for your mods.

Sorry- there is a "Stage 2" and a Stage 2+"; both require a high flow cat (and like you said the 2+ also requires HPFP upgrade). So I can't use those with a stock cat. There is no Stage 1 E30 map I can see.

For the E85, I thought I had read somewhere it was low grade (low octane, low detergent, etc). It seems to make sense if its sold as a budget item to mix 87 or worse instead of 93 and still sell "up to" E85.

Interesting, MHD has lower stage ethanol maps for stock cat, didnt know BM3 skipped stage 1 for some reason.

I've never heard that about E85 and the key thing is the ethanol content anyways (and in turn the octane). As long as you know the ethanol content you can mix accordingly and run the ethanol maps.

I would also note that some people choose to run maps that "require" a DP without an aftermarket one, but i wouldn't.

A while back I wanted a 2H map for 91 octane and I emailed them and they were kind enough to add it and its a great map for poor 91. I suggest you email them and they can add that Stage 1 too if it isn’t there already.

Anyone have experience with BM3 as a beginner? I have a 435i that I'm planning on going stage 2 on. Have been hearing a lot of good stuff about BM3 but I'm kinda new to it.
