I came across this to see if your car is part of the reimbursement program.
http://www.bmw-rp.com/production/bmw...nsf/submit.xsp I don't know if this program extends to Canada, but would be worth putting in your VIN. I used it when we bought our N20 X3. Example of a random VIN on 2014 320i on CarMax.

I imagine the 7 year 70k warranty on the chains, but I would verify. I think the warranty/reimbursement depends on the specific issue they cover.

I'm wondering about calling one of the BMW dealerships in Edmonton (Bavaria, bad experience with Edmonton BMW). I'll see about making a video of it. My noise only really shows up at 3,500rpm and above, growing in intensity the higher you go. Has that drill like noise. There is slight scaring on the timing chain. When hot, the chain is tight. When cold, only the odd time is the chain slack but from what I read, that is expected. I tried moving around the guard and only slight movement but that could just be regular plastic flex.
Outside of the slight scoring, I'm wondering if the timing chain is just stretched. There are vibrations at idle. Had some gross stretch when I had my 2006 Mazdaspeed 6, vibrations at idle and less low down power at temp. Going to call and see what they'll say. I have 69,xxx KM so if it is only till 70,000 rpm (which in my mind is still low) I got to get it checked ASAP. Mine is a March 2015 build 328i Xdrive so I SHOULD have the updated parts. |
