N55 Chargepipe for 335i?

Hey guys, I'm finally upgrading the OEM chargepipe for my F30 335i!

I did some research on the N55 chargepipes and it seems like VRSF, ER and FTP are the more common ones? Don't think I'll go for the ER since it doesn't really improve power, so I'm considering cheaper options but still fits great. Any thoughts??

I've also found a Forge and Masata chargepipe for the N55 which seems to be a UK brand, but haven't heard much about it. Anybody tried these?

If budget is an issue ER probably wouldn't fit the bill anyway. Just don't go for the VRSF one. Yes it may be much cheaper but trust me just don't hit the bar this weekend and get yourself some other brand

XPH offers most of the chargepipes you listed above I believe, not quite sure about Masata and the Forge ones, although it's defo worth a ask.

Quality wise I am on an ER, have no problems with it at all. Never tried the VRSF and FTP. As for the UK brands, I know a couple of people on the Masata, never heard any complains either.

Wait just realized you are in the UK in that case am not sure if it's the best idea to buy from a US based dealer, probably tons of them out there in the UK that offer chargepipes?

Haha tbh I think with chargepipes it's quite hard to go wrong, although that was my first purchase too when I modded my car. Still remember the excitement!

We offer a lot of different charge pipe brands.

Evolution Racewerks are the highest quality.

We also have the MAD, BMS & FTP in stock. All good options.

You cannot go wrong with either one listed.

shipping to the UK is ~$75

Depending on the brand you get, it might still be cheaper to get the CP from the US

ER fits great, but yeah if your looking for a chargepipe that does its job and not too pricey, I think u could for either VRSF or FTP. I've heard that some people had some fitment issues with VRSF tho...

I know Forge has been around too but never heard of Masata??

Another vote for ER charge pipe. This is one component which shouldn't be subjected to 'how can I pay less' internal debate.

Get the highest quality charge pipe based on your own research and ignore the price difference.

After my chargepipe blew I didn't really have a choice lols. I just went with a option with quickest delivery. Got the Masata chargepipe and its doing the job so nothing I can complain about

Agreed, if there is a part one needs to spend slightly more it would be this part

Yeah there are dealers for ER and VRSF in the UK so that's available, but I've found some UK brands too so was just wondering if there's a difference in quality since I haven't heard much about them

Thanks, just wondering if you possibly know what other issues might happen with a "not so great" chargepipe? I've heard from others that fitment is the biggest thing to look for, and seems like ER's fitment is the best so I'm torn

It either fits or it doesnt. If it doesn't, you waste your time and money trying to make it fit and/or fix boost leaks. Been there, done that with VRSF. Learned a lot along the way, but wasted several weekend days and countless hours of research to build pressure tester, find custom orings, etc.

Perfectly engineered fitment is one of the _important_ goals.

Contrarian scenario:

- "Some other " charge pipe has been installed
- You decided to save OEM charge pipe (pure luck)
- Few months later, the car begins to exhibit a rough idle
- 102001 fault code has been thrown
- After spending an enormous amount of time cleaning and replacing MAF sensors, the root cause has been found: an improperly seated charge pipe
- OEM charge pipe is reinstalled as an interim measure
- Order is placed for ER charge pipe with extra charge for expedited shipping
- ER charge pipe is installed
- Total labor costs exceed the cost of ER charge pipe

before placing an order directly with manufacturers, I recommend you check quotes from vendors as well
