Will do. One of my biggest questions when I was deciding to go stage 2 or not was whether or not the power bump will be worth it from stg. 1 to stg. 2. May do a little write up on that after getting the parts installed.

I definitely would've gone Dinan if it weren't so darn expensive. A used one could be a good play, but I haven't seen many or any for sale used, at least on here.

After I installed my Dinantronics Sport, I said I'd never need anything else... We can see what happened to that sentiment I feel like I always want to be doing something new to the car, no matter how minor the change. The kidney grilles and other little items should hold you off for now though

The mod bug bit you real hard, eh?

Kidney grills, debadging, coding, map updates, a full clay bar and possibly some colour-matched side markers among other things should hold me off, I hope. Next summer, depending on how the bank accounts looks, it may be a stage 2 build like yours, or an upgrade to the 40i gang

The mod bug runs in my family . Ever since I was little weekends were spent under my Dad's Chevelles, now he's moved on from his car modding days and passed the mod torch to me lol. Anyway, that sounds like plenty of stuff to hold you over , but just so you're aware: Dinantronics sport is for sure a gateway drug, so to speak haha. Hopefully it'll be enough for you until stage 2/40i

I got bit really, really hard... Kidney grilles, headlight retro, HID retro, M-Sport front bumper retro, wheels, tires, DP, CP, TIC, FMIC, (Dinan Sport+ at one point), midpipe, quad muffler, debadge, tint, steering wheel retro, DV+, BM3, stage 2 LPFP, spark plugs, coilovers..

The list goes on... I need to get rid of this thing lol.

That's awesome. My dad is more into airplanes as he's an aircraft engineer. He never believed in modding cars. He would always tell me that we couldn't do it better than the engineers at the auto manufacturers did. In some regards, he might be right, but with turbos and tuning...there's definitely a lot of room for us to improve

Yeah, you've literally gone all out. Your build is awesome tho. One of the most comprehensive 328 builds I've seen on here. Definitely curious to see what you've got planned on yours next.

& at least you can take pride in the wealth of knowledge you've built up on the platform

Yeah, it has been pretty fun and a great learning experience for sure. Rod bolts+ the custom tune are still planned next but life has delayed that a little bit. The more prospective date is August, but we'll see.

That's exactly what I would expect an engineer to say hahaha. He's definitely right in some aspects, but where's the fun in leaving car's stock lol? Luckily, while my dad has given up modding his own cars, he enjoys helping me tinker with mine. It's funny how amazed he is when he sees me on my laptop in my car, flash tuning. The game has certainly changed! Downpipe/FMIC install with the pops should be happening this weekend too!

Well in the interest of keeping posted, everything is in. FMIC was a breeze working great and happy with it. Had to take a sawzall to the fan shroud clips, as they didn't fit at all but all in all it took about an hour. The DP however, different story. Me and 2 others, who help me with my car and I help with theirs, have about 12 hours into it. Just a f*cking nightmare. Long story short, the DP is in but I have a heinous exhaust leak. I'll be taking to a custom exhaust place to have them clean it up, hopefully all will be well after that. Don't want to jack this thread, so PM me if you want to hear the full story lol.

Has anyone recorded gains on a 320i yet? I just ordered the sport tuner for my 2016 320i and want to see what the gains look like. If not, I have access to a nearby dyno and can share my results.

Quick update: my sport tuner came in today and I of course got it quickly installed and tested. One of the quickest and easiest installs I've ever done and I'm really happy with the results!

The app works flawlessly with the 320i, connection was great and super quick. Everything is user friendly and nicely laid out. Boost gauge worked flawlessly and seemed to respond immediately and accurately.

I first tried it in sport+ and went for a short ride to allow the drivetrain to reach operating temps before I did any pulls. In sport+ you can definetly feel the difference in power compared to stock. Boost was peaking at 11.8psi. After a few pulls in sport+ without any issues, I switched over to the race setting. After the first pull I was really impressed with the power gain! Boost was peaking at 13.75psi in race mode which is pretty impressive.

Overall, for $300 I'm very happy with the power gains and can now pass the average prius without being embarrassed😂 Can't wait to get this on a dyno and see how it affects power output to the wheels compared to stock.

I understand your Dad's point about not improving on an over-engineered product but then again, sorry Dad, better modded cars are the result of the Internet. Much, much better mods. It's literally millions of posts worldwide by millions of owners. There is no parallel in the past.

Sure, you still get someone who overdoes a mod project. But today's modders now have access to what the car manufacturers have had since day 1: Collective experience. You want to know if mod X sucks, you turn to the Internet. Ton of negative feedback? That part doesn't go on your car.

The funny thing thing is the manufactures themselves all jumped into the mod business over the last 15 years. Everything from big wheels, mufflers, differentials, body kits, body wraps, branded swag, at one time exclusive to the mod scene. Now, if it's popular enough, the manufactures either borrow the idea or re-badge an existing product, add a warranty to it, then call it 'official' while charging a premium.

Perhaps in a later era mods were more a DIY kind of thing. Now, who is modding a car without checking google first?

DinanSport ordered. Looking forward to giving it try.

Hi, relatively new to BMWs here. Does the Dinantronics Sport module necessitate a change in spark plugs? Maybe one step colder? What is recommended?
Thanks!

It works great on a totally stock car, no spark plug change necessary.

Don't forget, the software may not sync up with a lot of android phones.

Dinan won't update the software, but a TON of complaints about it. I have a spare iphone, and it's usually set it once and forget it, but it's nice to have the option with the daily driven android.

Rich smell

I installed the sport tuner in my n20 late last year, been loving the extra power in comfort mode. Just recently I discovered a strong smell of unburnt fue during startup, was only able to notice when I was in an enclosed garage so it might have been there the whole time and I just didn’t notice...
Is this something normal? Has anyone else noticed it? Should I be worried?
