Hi I s everyone’s brake pad wear.....my F32 needed new front pads at 18,000 and rear pads at 23,000 miles......I needed to take off my front wheels today and noticed my fronts are halfway worn down at 25,000....and these were just replaced at 18,000.....most of my driving is highway so don’t understand my pad wear......quite certain no issues with calipers....

In contrast, my E92m3 driven the same did not need new pads and rotors until 90,000 miles

18,000 miles is fast wear for any normal driving. Were the pads definitely changed?

25,000 miles sounds more the figure for 'half pad life' with light brake use.

Unusual pad wear can usually be traced to pads that are sticking in the pad carriers, caused by inadequate lubrication when installed.

Thats super early. Before my 340i was totaled at 50K Miles, i still had original break pads and still had some life in them.

Monitor your wheel temperature in the TPMS if you have that feature activated. It may give you some clues about sticking pads...

Ditto, I'm at 45 and my pads are barely half worn down and I live in the NYC metro area.

theres absolutely no way even the most aggressive driving can wear out any sort of brakes this quickly. can you post pics of your front and rear brakes, OP?

Not suggesting that the OP does this, but I've seen drivers using both feet for brake and accelerator duties in automatics. If they have a habit of resting their left foot on the brake, I imagine the pads/rotors won't last long.

FWIW, my mostly highway driving F31 with 90,000kms on the clock still has pads that are not quite a quarter worn. I suspect binding pistons or some other lube-related problem for the OP, as others have suggested.

at 62k miles here, still OG brake pads here, but will need to be replaced soon.

Yup! Something is amiss with that level of pad wear. I'm at 98K on originals and after looking at mine 2 weeks ago while getting new tires installed, I have, at least, another 15-20k before doing my brake job. I may be an anomoly, but your's is definitely being impacted by something.

Almost 20K on original pads and i-drive says about 42K miles life left (taken with a grain of salt as we all know it's a guesstimate).

Take it with a truckload of salt. My right front inner pad was down to 3mm, but since the sensor is on the left front inner pad iDrive said they had 42k miles left. 3mm is when the sensor trips, at which point iDrive will give an alert and start counting down from 1,000 miles, so you can literally see it go from 40k miles or more to 1,000 miles in the blink of an eye.

I have a 14' 328ix and the "replace rear pads" warning just came up....the car has 23k on it ...is this even possible ?? Also on the dash is the word "BRAKE" in red? Could the emergency brake be sticking? Performance of car seems normal....? Also, I look at the front brakes as I would think they would wear first but look healthy except a healthy round gouge on the driver front rotor disc..dead center ???
As a side note I have had lots of computer software issues with this car??
Any help out there??

I had my front pads changed at around 37k miles, didn’t think that was unusually early at the time?

I say that's low with mainly highway driving, not unusual at all with mainly in town driving.

i got my front pads replaced @ 22k miles and the rear is about to be done as well
i was also shocked when BMW told me i need to replaced the brake during my service
and i thought something must be WRONG

but i guess its kinda just how it is with this car....even some say their pads were fine until 50-60k miles but there's still a group of lucky people out there like us that had to replace the pads around 20k miles...

I drive like mario andretti and need to replace my fronts now at 32,000. been squealing for about 4k miles and idrive just let me know its time.

My issue is if I should replace my rears right now too =/

Squealing is usually caused by lack of lubrication between the pads and carrier, so your brakes were telling you that they needed attention 4k miles ago. As for the rears, the only way to know their condition is a visual check of all four pads.
