Used F31 - Pre vs Post-LCI - Cost spread/warranty value?

I've found 2 wagons, virtually identical - 2016 with 40K miles, warranty expires in 12 months (or 10K) (new tires and pads). Or a 2015 with 20K miles, original warranty expires in 12 months (apparently sat on the lot for a while) plus its a CPO so warranty extends for another 12 months.

I've read a few threads on pre and post LCI and think I'd prefer post if everything was equal - but 1/2 the miles and an extra year warranty on the pre-LCI has me leaning to the pre-LCI.

What do you guys think? And, fwiw, I suspect I'l only keep the car 12-24 months before I sell, so depreciation is a factor.

Thanks

What are options on both?

Gas or diesel?

Both Gas, both black.

2015 - M-Sport, Tech, Lighting, Driver Assist, Premium, Cold, HK

2016 - M-Sport, Tech, Lighting, Driver Assist, Driver Assist Plus, Premium, cold, HK

Looks like primary difference is no Driver Assist Plus in the 2015. I'd prefer the Plus but its not critical. I'd really prefer Track Handling but that is a relatively rare option.

The more I think about it, the more I lean towards the 2015 on resale value. Assuming I sell in 18 months -- Say, May, 2020 - the 2015 will likely have about 33K miles and 6 months warranty left, the 2016 will have 53K miles and no warranty. I think the 2015 will bring a higher price in 2020.

Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks

If they are both almost identically priced...…..I would always take the lower mileage vehicle.

Especially if you know you're not going to keep it long term. the LCI updates are nice but sounds like you just need something to flip quickly. For that kind of purchase I just buy what meets my needs for the optimal value, and then i splurge on something I'll keep long term.

Thanks guys. But, snooze and lose - the 2015 sold this morning. The hunt continues.
