F36 440i with Adaptive suspension - M sport springs?

Hi,

I swapped from an f36 430i with "static" msport suspension, to an f36 440i with adaptive. I feel like the 430i had far stiffer springs, both in terms of cornering flatness and also front end lifting under acceleration etc, and believe the adaptive suspension has softer springs?

Has anyone here tried fitting the standard msport springs to the adaptive dampers?

Thanks!

Tom.

BMW OEM springs for 440i with M Adaptive suspension are designed to reflect additional weight plus adaptive shock performance characteristics.

In this case, practical experience with other springs may matter more. Search this sub-forum for ACS springs + adaptive. Many useful threads to review.

i recommend skip the m-sport springs and just get Eibach Pro-Kit springs, tested with factory dampers

.

would you go for the eibach pro kit or the ACS springs that are designed to be used with the adaptive dampers?

also, would you change to the f8x bumpstops at the same time?

Eibach is the manufacturer of ACS, however to their specs. I believe the ACS spring rate is a bit stiffer and possible slightly lower. they also cost more because it has an ACS logo. personally i'd get Eibach however ACS is a fine choice also(again, Eibach makes them). Yes, I would swap to he F8X bumpstops.

I believe Eibach has two different Pro-Kits. the rear springs are the same however in one kit, the front is a bit lower. not sure about ACS. please do your own research regarding all of this info prior to purchase.

hmm. Birds have offered me a test drive of their 435i with their suspension set-up.

Wonder if anyone local has eibach or ACS springs only on adaptive dampers, it'd be about £1000-1500 cheaper than going the whole hog with new dampers too, I want to know what the return on that looks like....if the eibach springs fixed 90% of the problems then that could be enough for me...

Agreed. Search around a bit. If memory serves me there is a thread that discusses the the different eibach kits and someone (probably Farkle) figured out the ACS kit is the eibach 5-22 kit based on TUV docs.

I am currently running the stock adaptive shocks with a set of F80 MT springs and F80 bump stops. It's pretty good for street and a little fun on the back roads. I still wish the comfort setting was a tad more dampened and sport slightly less, but all in all, not bad. I would say the drop from rwd m sport height was about 1/4".
