2012 CIC-HIGH Retrofit
Frustratingly, for me and many others, BMW took the momentous decision not to produce the 2012 F30 with the 2012 CIC-HIGH which is the updated iDrive and Nav. The 3rd generation iDrive basically.
Now, the second generation (CIC) is awesome and I love it but I was so pissed when I got my car in June and BMW announced the following month that it's now out of date. So, September now, and the F30 is being produced with CIC-HIGH, as is the F31 and others! I have the full Professional Navigation, Apps and the works in my 328i and I want a retrofit!! Does anybody know where this is possible, if this is possible?

Hi
Just retrofitted the cic nbt (high) in my f30 BMW. I didn't have cic in my car as it was delivered with the standard stereo with 6.5" screen. If you do this you will probably need it coding to your car ( mine not coded yet so all functions not yet operational ). Can't compare to the cic as I never had one, but the nbt is a great piece of kit. Got mine for a good price £650 or $1000 for the full kit. Seen people asking double that. |

Interesting! Let us know how it goes with getting it fully operational. I can't say I'm too fussed now - I was just pissed off at the time with getting the latest BMW and then it being out of date immediately.

Got from EBay? In the UK
As for the coding I have downloaded Esys 3.22.5 and psdzdata 49.3 and made an enet cable myself. I have done the basic coding so my car now knows Nav is fitted. Also changed the production day as the nbt was not available on the f30 until 11/12 my car had a production day of 07/12 so the date has been changed to 03/13 to be safe. I fitted the nbt by self ( not difficult ) |

Ahh good stuff! Just noticed you're in Bolton - I'm only 5/10 minutes from there! Yeah my 328i was a May 2012 build (05/2012) so just a little older than yours. Have you got the Full Black Panel Display? The Nav uses that to present directions and graphics which is why it's part of the Media Professional Package if you were to spec it upon order. Just wondering how that would work if you had the standard one!

Yes I have the full black screen that comes with the nbt.
Also the standard speakers do work. However this will happen if the donor car had this setup. If the donor car had the upgraded speaker system it would have needed coding back to standard. Not sure if its my imagination. But the quality of sound seems better. I do know the nbt is made by a different company than the standard radio. Just waiting to get it fully coded as that is new to me. I can do the basics but don't want to mess it up. It really does look good. |
