injector question

Does anyone know of any 3rd party upgrade injectors? I've been looking and all I see are companies declaring theirs are better quality than OEM. But no added performance. Same question about the HPFP.....

Would 335d injectors and HPFP fit our engine?

N57 injectors are the same part number as the 328d.

Their size is quite good for performance, and they have a good amount of capacity.

Making an upgrade available and work seamlessly would have to be built in conjunction with the pump and the tuning.

These are much much more complex than what the VW TDI crew is used to with the ALH engine, etc. (I know there are many ex-TDIers here)

Serious? Same? I am running a Chipwerke PB, and if I run it even slightly above what is sent from the vendor, it throws a CEL about injector beyond learning capacity. I thought that meant that the injector was maxed. I was figuring the same on the HPFP.

Poor assumption apparently. I'm currently researching flash upgrades to ditch this POS PB. I figure another year, and I'll be out of warranty, so it's time.

I asked you in another thread about your self tune. What software and equipment do you use to tune your car? It's something I'd love to learn to do.

And thanks for the injector/pump input.

Sorry, I was out of state for a conference. I saw the messages, but wanted to reply later when I am more available.

The injectors are the same, yes. The newer X5 35d, 535d, and 740Ld in USA all use the same injector.

The crappy tuner boxes do a VERY bad job at power, and can be quite dangerous for your engine. They generally fool the rail pressure sensor.
If it's throwing codes, then I would dispose of it immediately.

What exact codes do you have?

The self tuning is quite possibly the most ambitious hobby project I have ever done. I have been learning how to tune for 4 years now on German cars, gas and diesels alike. It takes a lot of experience and tools to be able to do it yourself at home. Not to mention time and lots of research. You must be able to somewhat understand hexadecimal code and how mapping works.

These 328d have very complex management systems, but they are quite capable and have lots of potential with stock components, including the stock exhaust system.

Me and a contact have studied and tested on these cars for the last year, with hundreds of hours of logging, defining, and testing. I do not work in this field (although I am good at it + loads of fun) and it has purely been a case of extreme hobbying for me.
