code USB in center console to a higher ampere

As in the title
I think I have read it somewhere in the www that it is possible to code the usb port in the center console to a higher ampere output than 0.5 A.
But I haven't been able to find it.
Anybody knows if this is possible and how?

I don't know about coding, but the current limit would be determined by the size of the fuse, and the size of the fuse limited by the gauge of the wire going to the outlet.

Actually there is a post floating around out there that the output of the newer head unit USB port being software limited to a lower amperage and that it can be modified in *some* scenarios.
