HPFP New Option

I know most of us are users of many different forums. However, I have heard no one talking about what was posted on another forum regarding a different HPFP option. I am not sure if I can post a link elsewhere, however this is too big not to.

https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56996

A user named T_H_O_M_A_S was able to retrofit a B58 HPFP to his N55. By the looks of it, its pretty straight forward aka no special coding to make it work. Used pumps can be bought for a fraction of the xdi or the S55 dual pump setup pricing. New ones I believe are still under them.

I am going to reach out to him and see if he will come over to this site and shed some light. Maybe some tuner(s) can check this option out and see if this will take care of our fueling needs for good.

Wow, definitely going to shake up the XDI market.

Professional pump makers hate him!

seeing as this evo pump is within 1% of the xdi 35 could we install this pump and select xdi35 when using an ots bootmod3 flash?

I bet they will quickly rethink their "no group-buy" stance now.

Nope. The reason you have code a xdi is that it runs off of a different frequency than a stock hpfp. This would not have that issue.

That's even better then? Can tuners make use of this through bootmod3?

In theory, this would drive the xdi pump price way down. LOL prolly not happening. Let's get a vid going on b58 pump installation!

Much better, it will work without programming. This is literally too new of a find for BM3 or MHD to take advantage of. However, Thomas’s logs show that by just installing the HPFP on a regular tune it works without tweaking the tune.

Thomas has created a user name, he will have much more answers on the actual install. I’d love for some of the tuners check out his logs and see what this find could mean for the N55 community!

Funny thing is that Thomas learned from another guy - a lot of cool stuff going on that never make it to the forums.

In volume this is a ~13% upgrade (dont have the source of this info) so the XDI is still way ahead with 36%.

I'll save the explanation of the condition to make it simple - assuming 17psi@5500rpm@80F_IAT on US pump gas (really E10) is the limit, the absolute pressure = 17+ 14.5 = 31.5psi.

On paper, 13% more fuel would allow for an extra 31.5*0.13 = 4.1psi, or maybe a little less because of slightly richer AFR at higher boost. 4psi would be significant, and arguably enough in any case because going higher you need meth for cooling and octane anyway.

If the swap is simple enough, B58 pump would be a better upgrade as a OEM part than the XDI one.

hello everyone , i finally got approved and this is my first post on this forum .
I was checking the net for an upgrade in the bosch brand itself , ive already found a hpd5 evo , with many revisions available but very little info was available of what type is used in what vehicle, let alone be a place where you could buy them . i also send a mail to bosch , but they stated our products are only allowed in racing applications so we cant help you any further , so the search continues . What niels told here is correct ,,i accidently found out about this upgrade when browsing google images . all credits go to a guy named michael.ytb . we talked a little over mail , he provided me with part numbers . Why he never came forward with this info to a forum idk ? so i went out on the net and got me a pump and connector and also a vacuum pump to do measurements for the two new holes you have to make . the swap is actuelly pretty straight forward . cut the flange on one side so it clears the vacuumpumps body . make two slits as can be seen on the pictures they are more or less 60 degrees CW compared to the evo mounting holes . if your car is later 2014 you'll need a different plug , other wise cut the connector and solder the new one , as i did . this upgrade costs me aroudn 200usd for a 2nd hand pump and new connector . i'm currently on 93 oct as you cant have e85 in a gas station overhere , you have to blend it prior to filling up or else . how far the pump can hold has to be seen , i hope to get around 20 to 22 pi on e20 or e30 . i'm running the pump for a few days so far , no problems at all . i used the same map on both pumps , see the difference for your selves heres a link of my car with the pump running
. i'm not a shop owner or else seeking a lot of sales , i just wanna share my xp with this pump here are some datazap links aswell , https://datazap.me/u/thomas/log-1551308249 this one is with evo pump , https://datazap.me/u/thomas/log-1545...og=0&data=4-20 this one is with oem one .

i do have to mention something more about the install . when you want to swap the pump , you cant see the position of the cam that drives the pump , till you actually unbolt the oem one . prior to install a new one its easier to do when the cam is at its bottom center . otherwise you have to compress the spring a lot when bolting the new one . make sure to fasten it half a turn at once alternating between the two bolts . you could move your crankshaft a little in order to get the cam and its follower at bottom point .

Too bad you don't have any E85 to try . There is a lot in France and i'd love to use it.
