DIY: Performance Side Skirt Extensions Install

Hey guys, here's a quick vid I made for installing the side skirt extensions on your 3/4/5 series.

For this application I only used 3M double sided tape (1" width) and did not install the pop rivets/screws.

Where did you get the side skirt extensions?

Anytime. I picked them up from a forum member who took them off his F30.

Part number for them is;

51192291404

You may want to use the screws. Dirt and water roll right into that space between the skirts and body panels, plus you are fighting gravity. I've used the 20lb strength 3M tape and once contaminated, the stuff just falls off.

With screws, they will stay on even when the wife... ahem... steps on them....

Haha. Yup thanks for the tip. I will definitely do it but most likely next week.

nice vid. i also recommend the pop rivets. I picked up a little beefier plastic rivet at the auto store that was a GM part. Much more secure. I took the skirts off and did it. Only takes a few minutes each side to pop them off and then you can line everything up much easier.

Is there a guide anywhere to remove the side skirts or are they just on with rivets from the bottom ?

Instead of the plastic rivets you can easily use some standard aluminum ones available anywhere (I got mine at HD). Same install steps except you need a rivet gun, not expensive tool.

I just got 20 of those in the picture where it's a screw into the expanding section. Been on the car 2 years without any issue. Easy to remove as well
