N20 Intake Opinions
Looking to pick up an intake and was wondering what you guys would recommend before I pulled the trigger.
What sort of actual gains can one expect with an aftermarket/performance intake on a 328i ? |

From my experience, I've always lost some throttle response and torque in the low rpm and low speeds with a CAI, but gaind the very same at high speed.
The injen intake i have now on my 428i is the first intake that i did not loose any tq or throttle response with. |

the n20 stock airbox already flows well, so gains are minimal.
for performance, the best bang for your buck is a stage1 piggy back or flash tune. an intake along with fmic, dp, exhaust and stage2 piggy back(w/code removal) or flash tune is where there is more of a benefit. |

Thanks guys. Probably still pick one up anyway if nothing else for improved sound and maybe a slight uptick in throttle response.
Who are the most trusted tuners around the SAC/Stockton/Modesto area? Not looking to stress my engine and decrease its life by SUPER TUNING it but had my Camaro tuned by Overkill Motorsport and noticed an increase in performance for sure so Im definitely interested... |

Non-car guy: "Whoa, that sounds beastly! What'cha running for hp?" You: "~8hp over stock!" Non-car guy: "Nooooice!" cue chest bumping Ok, I'm joking but it's really just for sound. May pick an intake up some day but that's low on my to-do list right now. Pricing new isn't cheap (~$400-600) and eBay would only be a smidgen cheaper I'd guess. |

https://afepower.com/afe-power-54-82...-intake-system if you're going to spend at least have it draw in air cooler than the engine bay to improve performance. it doesn't come cheap, though. i remember the good ole honda days where you had short ram and cold air. short ram, making noise, degrading performance after the engine bay became heatsoaked. cold air had installation shortcomings but generally provided improved performance. although the gauze or foam filters flow better they don't filter as good as paper. Thanks. Got an offer in on a K&N filter off eBay... for $42.... Buy it Now of $50... free shipping. I guess if an actual aftermarket intake is a complete waste of money, I might as well have a high quality drop in.
