I read the first line - and didnt read any more after that:

"New E10 eco-fuel is on its way to UK forecourts"

not against Eco stuff and principles etc... - but it just usually has an affect on performance - so I'm out.

Apparently this has been out for a couple of years in Germany and they avoid it fearing it will damage their cars. Hopefully this will just appear as another option at the service station so you can decide not to use it. More pointless EU legislation that we must abide by.

I've used it in Germany a couple of years back, I didn't notice any difference; every fuel court had an E10 option. Modern BMW are fine as most of the tubes and tank are now plastic, there was an issue on older cars with metal fuel tanks/tubes.

This is what ALL American gas is. 90% regular gasoline, 10% Ethanol.

Yep its here, its said to be "not so good" for injectors, piping, aluminum and metal stuff in general...

And of course, if your engine blows because of it, no car manufacturer will cover for that.

Thats why its avoided like a plague here in germany.

Btw. it leads to "only" up to +3% more fuel consumption.

You can use Google translate if you want to read a statement of one BMWs Engine Development guys (Thomas Brüner):
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/auto/umst...ssen-1.1068470

Basically he says because of higher water amounts in the engine it can thin out the oil quicker and lead to more oil change intervals and general engine wear.

Your kidding? Didn't expect that one, I'm over there in a couple months, is that basically the regular type then (87 octane or something?)

Yes I see the part about watering down oil doesn't look to good! I suspect this stuff should only be used in small 3 cylinder cars rather than our vehicles

Nope - all our gas is up to 10% ethanol. I have yet to see a pump without this (or similar) sticker
