Thinkware f750 or whatever the latest incarnation.

Fat kid 1 has one in his focus. Decent bit of kit.

Thinkware F770 isn't rated very well i see, F750 has better reviews.

Just got a full refund for my f770. Absolute rubbish. Never worked well, fitter scratched car and 3 visits to install. DAB knocked out if you have rear camera.

Really, I'd heard only good stuff about the F770

Anyway, you can pick up the F750 for decent money now and then put F770 firmware on (time lapse, enhanced night view etc), so a cheaper solution if you can live with the slightly bigger unit.

Have a F750 with rear cam in our GL and can't fault it (apart from the fitter who put the rear cam upside down initially )

The installation was fairly straight forward, it took a couple of hours, fortunately it was done on a dry and sunny day.

I didn't hover over they guy, but did make the point that the rear cam had known issues which gave DAB issues.

The rear camera is mounted well over to the left and has a good picture.

There is a but though. He routed all of the rear camera cabling through the headlining and now I have DAB dropping out "No Signal". Bloody annoying.

So I'm contemplating going back to Chameleon but I'm concerned they may send the same engineer out.

This is the reason why I'm stalling having them do mine, you think they would know the common issues that various makes of cars have.

He'd not installed one of these on a 4GC before, fitted plenty of Trackers to them and did a Dashcam install on an i8 the day before.

If I have read things correctly, the fitter should not have cut the cable from the rear camera to the front unit (the ends of the cables have moulded connectors fitted). So hopefully somewhere in the midst of this is a loop of cable tucked away somewhere, as I'm determined to cure this DAB issue.

Does "speed cameras" in this context mean time lapse?

You get an alert, that up ahead is some form of speed camera: static, average speed cameras, mobile or red traffic light camera.

I've replaced my F750 with an F770 - pretty much identical tbh, only the unit size is different.

The dual camera F750 is available for sale if anyone is interested - and if you're near North Hampshire I'll happily help with install.

PM me if interested (don't check the forum so much these days).

Is the speed camera detection on these any good? I currently have a separate Road Angel unit and Blackvue Dash Cam. It would be nice to have just the one device.

I'm fairly certain that it uses a "live database" that links to your current GPS Position which I presume updates to the device on a fairly regular basis.

Unlike the Road Angel that uses a database and radar detection.

Run the cable under the carpet via the passenger side and fit suppresors

I understand that, however, I don't have the confidence to start re routing cable so may have to get an expert in.

Having had a Road Angel, it dynamically updates (assuming you have a live subscription). The ThinkWare requires you to download the latest releases of their databases to maintain it up to date - not a major issue.

I've found my F750 to be as accurate as my Road Angel for 99% of the time.

How does this work (how/where is it mounted?) if you have the speed limit/dancing lights etc camera built into the rear-view mirror?

Anyone with those on their car have the F750 fitted and all gadgets work OK?

That's a lot of questions.

Front camera unit is mounted up close to the rear view mirror, opposite side to the driver normally.

Speed alert come via a voice message and a beep when you rear the location of the speed camera etc.

I've got front and rear cameras and they do what is said on the box.
