again, it is possible, I have done it as well as others, the risk is yours if you want to do it. I would certainly never offer to do it to someone else's car...

I assume you mean that you changed the build date to 07/13 in the FA and wrote it to the car, right?

After changing and writing the FA back to the car, do you need to VO code EGS and then re-enable LC again, or is writing the new FA (assuming LC was already set to aktiv) sufficient?

Another way to ask this is: Do the ECU's read the FA build date and adjust their behavior dynamically, or is the build date only using during VO and/or FDL coding?
I wouldn't VO code EGS with the 07/13 build level or else you will end up with that transmission error like I had on the picture above. Also, if you're going to VO code with a different build date, make sure you uncheck "Update VCM After Tal Execution" and "Update MSM After TAL execution" or else it will automatically update the FA on the car and the car may have problems getting programmed at the dealer in the future. I've only VO coded with 07/13 for HU_NBT and KOMBI because of my head unit retrofit. I wouldn't recommend doing this to any vital ECU's like DME, EGS, EPS or FEM_BODY since the hardware may be different over the model years.

I was able to get launch control by only FDL coding it and it works fine but I'm on 51.3 so maybe the minimum I-step to get this working is 51.1 and not 50.4.

Also, it doesn't just work right away; you need to have driven at least 6 miles to allow it to work. I think a lot of people who coded it just don't know how to use it properly.

This is how you trigger it :

1) Drive at least 6 miles
2) Sport+ or DSC Off
3) Tilt Shifter to left
4) Floor the brake and the floor Accelerator (Yes! FLOOR IT. If you just press it, it will not work)
5) Let go of the brake and you will see the checkered flag

I haven't coded this for anyone else but if it works on my 2012 328i on 51.3, it should work on any 2013 model.

I think the other guys were on 51.x, I don't remember exactly as I only made sure they were on something >= 50.4. I'll check again next time.

BTW, on step 5: I thought the checkered flag shows up BEFORE you release the brake indicating that LC was active and ready to go.

For example, if you have a 2013 335i with a build date of 03/13 and your car has been updated to 52.1, you will need to change the build date on your vehicle order to 07/13 to have Launch Control, Sailing and some other features enabled.

In your previous post (quoted at the top), you indicated that you changed your build date to 07/13 to have Launch Control enabled, but your last post (second quote) says don't VO code with the modified date.

Since Shawn indicated that the build date is only used during VO coding, how did changing the build date enable launch control for you if you didn't VO code your EGS with it?

The Build date on the FA is used as a reference point for ECU coding/programming. If your FA with 03/12 was changed to 07/13, ISTA will program your ECUs with the default values for that particular build level; same would apply if you VO coded EGS with that FA.

I actually suggested to change the build date to 07/13 and VO code EGS before I tried it on my own car the same day. That's when I got the transmission heating error and that's when I said not to do it later.

What I meant to say is that the software on 2014 cars and 2012/2013 F30's are all the same and the build level kind of acts a filter for ISTA and E-sys to code according to the build level. That doesn't mean that you can't FDL code these features.

If you have someone with a 2013 F10 with a build date of 03/13 and the car has been flashed to 52.1, it will not get the volume bar or album art over Bluetooth on the NBT but those features are actually on the new firmware and it's just a matter of either FDL coding it or VO coding it with a modified build level to enable them.

Hope this clears things up.

You might be right but I haven't really had a detailed look on when the flag shows up but I know just works.

So anyone know if launch control is possible on f30 models built before March 22, 2013?

My current I step is f020-15-07-502.

So can We go to the dealer and get it?

Ok so can we just get a software update from the stealer, or do we already have launch control on a 2013 BMW 328i/xi? does the car need the sport line? Mine is the luxury line. goes like hell vs my 2004 ford focus

What does it mean to "allow the transmission to cool for 5 minutes" before using launch control. Kind of confusing or I'm just over thinking it. Do I just idle for 5 minutes before trying this out? I have an F30 sport line and have been waiting till I get to 20k miles to do this.

Driving beforehand warms up the engine...then cool down the transmission before using Launch Control.

So I've tried on stock (before coding) and after coding multiple times, and I just can't seem to get launch control to work. Interesting how my 2013 335i owner's manual indicates I do have it and instructs on how to enable it...

I enabled it on my F31 diesel car.

Does anyone know if the LC works on the 5 series?

Hello,

is there also any possibility to get launc control activated on F10 535i MY 2011 ?
I updated all of the cars ECU-s on my dealer, newest I-level now. I was abel to code LC_active in EGS, I also retrofitted 2TB to VO and VO coded the car with that 2TB! Btw my car has no GWS module highlited in the list, no CAFD-s there.

Still when I jam the brakes on Sport + and hit the gas to klick/kickdown then @ 1500-2000rpm the rear wheels are start to spin while the brake could not hold them not spinning. This function is not working on my car...

I have F30 328i from 2012/07 and the Launch Control cannot be coded because of I-Step ver. 44.3 ..while minimum required for LC is 50.4. Switching 205 to 2TB and changing build date from 07/12 to 07/13 doesn't fix the problem obviously in this case.

I'm going to flash EGS using using E-sys 3.28 with ENET cable.
I have backup files from original state before I started coding adventure with my car.

1. Do I need to flash other ECUs also?
2. Which version of PSDZdata do you suggest - 50.4 or can I use any even latest available?
3. Do I have to return initial VO/VA coding using by backup files first?
4. What errors should I expect after flashing and what additional tools should I arrange to fix them (ISTA-P ? or so) ?

Not only does the car have to be in sport + but make sure the shifter is to the left on Manuel/sport. Also very important gas pedal must be all the way to the floor while pressing the brake hard.

I could be wrong but I thought all f30s come stock enabled.

Edit: I am wrong, needs to be coded in
