F33 Harman Kardon Retrofit from F20/F21/F22?

Hi all,

Back with another question. Picked up a 435d Convertible (F33), but it didn't come with the Harman Kardon System - it came with the standard system. I had the Harman Kardon System in my previous 435d Coupe (F32) and absolutely loved it.

Yes, I am aware of Bavsound and the alternatives, but would prefer the Harman Kardon System.

The question is if anyone knows if the Harman Kardon System from a F20/F21/F22 will fit the F33?

The used kit I'm looking at comes with 12 speakers, 2 subs and 2 amps (which is what would be the same for an F33). Does anyone know if this would be compatible?

Many thanks!

The subs und amplifier are different to the f3x.
The amp are a cheaper hk version without MOST connection.

2 amps? My F30 H/K system has one amp.

I'd suggest really searching the Bimmerpost and other audio threads as well as researching the part numbers for the various F33 audio options that you can find through realoem and other sources.

I agree with you that the H/K system is excellent except for the underseat subwoofers. Most of the aftermarket audio options for BMW are marketing rather than substance. But I found an excellent fix for the subs. I already did a partial post on it and am writing up a full post now. I'll come back and edit this to add a link to my partial post when I find it.

If you run into technical issues trying to retrofit the full H/K 14-speaker system, I'd suggest trying to do the audio system just below it with the addition of the underseat subwoofers upgrade that I mentioned.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

UPDATE: Below is the link to my partial post that I mentioned:

The HK kit in the 2-series is not the same as the HK kit in the 3+, essentially HK 2 = HiFi 3+. You need to come up with another idea.

Essentially anything can be retrofit between models for the right price.

However, the needs of a sound system in a convertible are totally different than the needs in a hardtop.

Unfortunately, even BMW didn't address these issues.

Just because you liked HK in a hardtop does not mean you will like in a convertible - even if it were compatible.

And it's certainly not worth the money to try and make it work.
