Idrive Service History Deleted
I recently took my car in for a brake fluid change, about 1.5 weeks ago, which was done by Sytner BMW.
Everything seemed to be OK and I noticed that the brake fluid service had been entered into the car's Idrive. However, I have since noticed that some of the service history is now missing, namely the one major service I had done back in 2018 by an BMW independent. Has anyone else had this happen? What's the best way of restoring the missing data? It looks as if the car has not had a major service, only oil and brake fluid changes. |

Id go back to your BMW independent person, they clearly have the knock off software and not the correct software that updates to BMW's servers. As soon as your car go's back to someone that does the service history downloads and then uploads back into your car and if its not been put on the servers (when using knock off equipment) the entered service will not be re loaded into the car.

Thanks guys for the heads up. Will chase them up. They are supposed to be proper BMW Independents and have had good reviews overall.
I found this the following link which may be a useful read: https://mca.electricmura.ro/en/blog-...ervice-history States the following: Please mind that you should only do this in order to add information on jobs you might have done yourself (an oil change, for example) and not to conceal or add false information. When a main dealer (or an indy who subscribes to the BMW service) does a service, they will upload the details to the BMW central system, erase your iDrive’s local history and then reload all the information from the central database. If you are doing maintenance work or if you are using a local service that does not subscribe to the BMW service and cannot update your car’s records on the central database on each visit, then you should keep the paper proof of all the work, which you will need if or when you decide to sell your car. Not a fan of all this electronic BS. What's wrong with a set of service stamps in a book like the good old days? |

You can use HUservicemanager to update the idrive yourself but as said it wont update the central BMW servers
Only BMW would be able to say for sure what dealer services have been done, you can load up anything you want into the idrive Keeping receipts for all work done is probably the best way of proving history |

Maybe it can be read from the key fob unless that was wiped too. There might be key fob readers on Amazon they look like wireless charges that plug into a USB port on a PC. I keep all my receipts just in case in the storage area under the trunk floor.

It's crazy what you can get off ebay!
Had I known that the indie didn't have the ability the upload to BMW's central servers, I would have looked at one that did have this facility. One of life's lessons...... |
