BMW DIY Guy F32 435i build out thread

Hey all!

I figured I would start a full build out thread on my car so far, though deep into the process now rather than from the beginning. I moved from my E46 M3 convertible as I was just tired of the 30k valve adjustments, though I had heavily modified the car and really loved it.

The change to a grey F32 coupe was dramatic and I really loved the car when I brought it home.. but now.. just woah now.. that (seemingly) tame bland car is anything but that now! Oh the changes over the last two years!

As if 1/21.. she is sold but will live on forever for me for the most mods I have ever done, the most learned, and the incredible growth this car brought to me. What an amazing car when she came home and was a MONSTER when she went onto the next owner.

Thanks man.. actually just realized I hadn't posted my build! I keep a spreadsheet for insurance purposes with all of the info, costs, references etc just in case. Somehow I think State Farm would FREAK (if in a total car loss place) for me to be like uh yeah..car value plus $22k more please without any documentation.

I dont have an easy link for the hood as I spent like 2 months backtracking from an Aliexpress link (and a ebay listing that looked identical) in China. I finally found the manufacturer but they dont have a website for customers, as they dont normally deal direct. I bugged the @#$!#$!# out of them for a month and they agreed to work with me.

fitment and quality.. Absolutely fantastic so far! There is a little more adjusting I need to do, and will likely drill out the hole spots for the washer fluid snap in posts (very common I hear on after market CF hoods, that you drill out what you want to have, so you can customize). Looks great, and I am leaning towards my partial painted idea more and more.

Solid idea, I'd also recommend converting your receipts to PDF to easily upload to adjuster if ever needed *knocks on wood

If you ever come across a link...post it up please!

So... suspension items... looking stock there. That coming?
And the LSD... you pull the trigger on the Auto version and going to modify or bit the bullet and went the manual?

yeah.. I know... I keep working towards suspension upgrades and something else leaps up and takes the budget. I was going to do Bikstein B16s but they have frustrated me with the year plus wait.

Suspension though and a BBK is on my radar.

The LSD is the auto model if it can work, and have one on order. I saw that one report back of it not working in a 6MT like mine, but hoping for more reports before mine arrives. I will cancel and save up for the proper one if so.

GTS hood is off at the paint shop, but since I had the tools out for exterior detail on the X5, might as well do the F32 as well.

orbital buffer for the win!

Car looks great! Have watched your videos. They are a great help to us enthusiasts. Wheels and a drop and the car will be done! Only thing I don't like are those grill stripes. If you are going to have the cca badge I'd lose the stripes to clean it up some. Looking forward to what you have in store next. Painted hood was the right move.

Thanks man.. working on wheels, suspension and brakes if I can, along with the last few performance pieces.

The stripes.. yeah.. more of a nod to the M3 I traded in than anything else. Plus mineral grey is WEIRD for me, normally I am red or yellow. So just adding a dash of color.

Thanks man.. doing my best to give back to this awesome community.

Looking good! You need a drop and wheels soon! It'll really complete the look I feel. Really digging the GTS hood too; bummer they're pretty tough to get one-off haha

I like how the hood turned out. Very creative and well done leaving that section exposed

Did you get that M Performance Diff on yet? I read in another thread you were going to try to put the auto LSD into your 6MT. I'm curious about that.

Sadly no.. the auto LSD will not work in the manual cars and was confirmed. Huge bummer candidly, as I read about the massive difference it makes.
