F32 Rieger splitter fitment
Have recently taken delivery of a Rieger front lip for my F32 (surprisingly during these times). Will large aluminium rivets, gorilla tape and plastic rivets do the job or do I need to take the bumper cover off and use the supplied nuts and bolts?
Thanks. |

One more thing - do any of you bother to disconnect the battery when removing the bumper and disconnecting the sensors etc.? Not sure when I will get round to removing it but hope to attempt it soon.

Nice lip, I had one installed a few years ago. I would look into plastic rivets or self tapping screws. My lip got damaged a while ago and needed to be replaced. It was a HUGE pain removing those metal rivets.. never again.

Or you could just jack the car up and drill from under the car. You'll have to remove a few splash panels underneath so you have space to work but no need to pull or unplug anything else.
FWIW, I highly suggest using an 8mm hex head bolts (1in and 3/4 inch lengths), fender washers (about .5" in diameter at least) and nylon lock nuts. Self tapping screws just rip right through the soft plastic/urethane of the nose if the lip hits something (like a parking block or steep driveway). With the large washer approach, the bumper will flex (unhappily) but will hold. I'm on 3rd front spoiler in two years. I've have the tray destroyed by parking blocks (twice) and freeway debris (1x). The only pieces left in place were the portions bolted to the body. |

Thanks for the replies everybody! I've posted a new question as I'm trying to find screws closest to the headlights on each side that secure the bumper to the fenders. I can only see a smaller screw when I peel back the upper liner.
Reassuring I wouldn't necessarily need to remove the bumper but decided to do this now to have the most secure fit.. |

Late reply, but I got it from Rieger via MStyleUK, who probably got it from Perl Design. It's all good - on now. Best part about this splitter is that you can still drive over most of the bumps you could before without scraping. Worst part is that it is very subtle - you would never know it is on the car from a distance. I fitted a red pinstripe to make it more noticeable.
I took the bumper off very slowly (took over a week as I was busy). Used the supplied nuts and bolts..first lined up the splitter with the bumper on and small squares of double sided tape and marked with a sharpie. Then when the bumper was off I drilled where I made the markings. The outer edges I used a plastic rivet gun. PS: Sorry about the duplicate user - I was locked out of my emails. |

Does anyone else have this Rieger splitter installed? , I am about to acquire one, but I would like to know the measurements of it to know if I am going to have problems with the garages in my car.
The total height of the vehicle with it installed, I know that it is originally 18cm, but I do not know how much this splitter lowers. Thank you! |
