Does ceramic windshield film interfere or attenuate the readability of RFID tags?

Do you have any idea if Ceramic window film would interfere or attenuate the readability of RFID tags?

Where I work I am required to install an RFID tag on the windshield to open a gate. I am considering installing Huper Optik Ceramic Series C40 on all the windows including the windshield, which is legal in PR. I would rather install the RFID tag on top of the film, inside of the car, in case that later on I decide to sell the car and need to remove the tag (without destroying the windshield film treatment to get to it).

You should not have a problem. Most external RFID antennas are well powerful enough to blast past a few mil of anything. Your whole car is metal, so the film won't attenuate anything out of the norm, even if it was a metallic film.

Can anyone see through a 5% tint?

That would not only be illegal but impractical!
Choosing the more expensive ceramic film should prevent metal interference then.

What film are you considering? My recommendation for windshields would be 3M Crystalline or Llumar Airblue. Crystalline is much better. Keep in mind that tinting windshields is typically illegal and also often brings out the (often annoying) artifacts in the curved/bent windshield glass.

I went with Llumar Airblue and I have no issues with my RFID tolltag and no interference with any of my radar detectors or gps or anything. THe stuff is great!

I will be installing HO C40 all around (including the windshield, yes, that is legal in sunny Puerto Rico) and HO C30 in the sunroof. I am considering installing toll RFID tags on the sunroof and a work gate RFID tag on the windshield.

Smile Another alternative to deal with my toll issue

Yesterday I received my brand new 435i M Sport and it will be fitted with HO C40 later this week. My highway toll administrator claims that sticker-based RFID can't connect through window tinting, not even ceramic, but they gave me the option of purchasing a large RFID sensor bar than can even be stored in the glove box. It costed me an additional $18 but I consider it money well spent because I won't have to cut my sunroof film. A bonus points goes to the fact that I can transfer this sensor to another car when I sell this one. Now I'll have to see how my residence and work gates react to the film...

I have a stupid question. I have air blue as well. Did you stick the radar detector on the windshield with the air blue? Any issues?

I have the Air Blue and have experienced absolutely no issue with FL SunPass systems, Radar detector operations or any visual distortions- day or night. My SunPass is stuck on the Air Blue just to the right of the Rear View Mirror and below the "dots". It is read everytime.

Best solution for you B- is the new mount they have at Blendmount.com-
It mounts directly to your rearview mirror, and it remains extremely well placed without interfering with vision.

I saw that on amazon last night! I only want the detector for road trips. I don't need one everyday.
