Save your money.
THANK YOU!! My thoughts exactly.

I have personally seen rubber charge pipes expand on engine dyno - that is not a problem with plastic charge pipes. If you suspect the pipes are cracked, or if the seals are leaking; then you could upgrade the charge pipes, but there is no performance to be gained from it.

if you have extra budget, upgrading charge pipe is worth
but if your on tight budget, i suggest spending that $200-300 on something that provide performance gain, like XHP transmission flash.

I bought their OTS maps, ENET cable, and tuner license for my 2017 F3x, I have BMW's July 2020 DME firmware update. This version of the DME is locked and BM3 flashes fail. I worked with PTF / BM3 support, they said I can't do anything until the DME is bench unlocked and they "won't accept mail in modules to bench unlock due to covid."

Unless you have a local tuner with proven capability for bench unlocking the most recent DME firmware I recommend saving your money and waiting for PTF/BM3 to release a flash unlock.

Depends on your firmware, ask PTF - they're responsive and knew right away mine wasn't flashable.

Ya they got back to me super quick and said shouldn't be a problem. I'm going FBO -next week hopefully- and then will tune as soon as I pull back in the driveway lol

Hello!

I am a user with a Mini cooper s f56 from 2014-06 with B48 engine, currently it has 45000km the car has automatic transmission
It currently has Wagner intercoolers, NGK IRIDIO spark plugs, Coils replaced by the last original reference available, Remus V2 exhaust pipe, k & n panel filter, Ravenol RSP 5W30 oil, Ravenol OTC g12 + coolant, Redline ATF D6 automatic gearbox oil and I think I do not forget anything, at the moment the electronics is standard.
I am somewhat concerned about the pistons since I read that there are many B48 breaks both from stock and with reassignments, some say it is due to LSPI, others that due to injection, etc ...
Is there a way to mitigate or improve these problems without having to change the pistons (I would hate to disassemble my engine completely, if this engine could be changed from the bottom without removing the engine from the car, I would do it immediately, but since it is not like that. .) They say that using an oil with lspi formula mitigates these problems as well, such as amsoil 5w30 or similar, what can you tell me about all that? First of all thanks for reading!

The question is, in the 2014-06 B48 engines like mine, how to mitigate the breakage of the pistons in some way, without having to replace them, the engine now has 45000km and electronics as standard, but soon I will reassign to 280cv // 400nm and I want the motor to be safe and not have breakage problems as I have seen previously in others. Some say that the problem is mitigated with LSPI oil, others that the problem is injection, I also want to know what is the origin of the piston breaks.

will it be possible to install bootmod3?

A hug!

Or maybe it doesn't transfer cross platform?

many factors can lead up to engine failure, we cannot say one for sure.
Bad fuel quality, bad oil quality, bad plugs, bad injectors, overboost, and the list can go on and on.

what we can do is to do preventive maintenance, such as using good fuel quality, good oil spec and quality. I heard some of oil brand had obtain SN plus certification, which increase protection to LSPI.

i'm myself, using B48 engine for 1.5 years with Stage 2 BM3, which deliver over 400nm and 300hp. My car is working flawlessly until now, which already run 10k miles with those power figures.

Thank you very much for your answer, it seems that the mini B48A20A is somewhat different and does not share reference of the pistons among other things with BMW, so it seems that the rear-wheel drive BMW B48 is better or more reliable than the front-wheel drive Mini , also mine was one of the first B48A20A from 2014-06, then in 03-2015 they changed the piston reference (I don't know the change very well or the reason why bmw updated this in their ETK)

I normally use all the best for my car, good gasoline, good oil, good maintenance, good care, etc ... But I am somewhat scared with as much piston breakage as I see daily.

Hi guys

New to the BMW and bm3 world.
This was my 1st flash attempt.

I got my ots map and went to flash, got the error
"flash successful but coding failed to apply"
I tied to revert to the original tune but having the same results

I now have a dash full of errors and malfunctions, and the car won't start.
I have launched a ticked with PTF and super confident they can sort me out but unfortunately I'm in Australia and they are not available until 11pm my time Monday at the earliest.

I'm wondering if anyone has had the same issue and how it was resolved?

Car is a 2013 f32 428i with the n20
Lights and fan were off,
Seatbelt plugged in,
25amp charger connected to a brand new battery (to be safe and as per instructions)

I apologize in advance if I've posted this in the incorrect place, very new at forums as well lol

Thanks in advance for any advice

weird? ots maps were an additional $50 after license purchase.

you can't sell it anymore if you bought it used.

it's allowed to be transferred once.

if you're the original owner (first time license) then you can flash your car back to stock and lock it, then contact ptf to do a transfer.
they let you sell it once.

or you can transfer it to your next car.
