Any idea what it is?
I'd be concerned about making it worse and therefore head straight to a body shop or specialist detailers. There's one in Lincoln FWIW http://www.deep-shine.co.uk/

That's disgraceful. Any idea what they used ? It's hard to tell from your photos whether it's past my or possibly some kind of acid/bleach which has discoloured the paint/lacquer.

Hopefully it can be corrected but in your shoes I'd have to pay someone to do it for me.

Cheers guys it's like a foam / glue...I got the thick off with hot water and car shampoo but it is the staining that I think will be the problem especially on the white car as it's bright fucking green....

Try a tar or glue remover on it before going in with a compound. Even better if you can try it ASAP before the sun gets to work on it. If there’s a Halfords nearby I’d give the Auto Finesse one a go.

As with anything you use on paintwork, start with the least aggressive first. Although T-Cut has its uses, it’s not especially gentle.

If you’ve not familiar with polishing/detailing paintwork, you’re best off leaving it to the professionals.

That must have seriously pee'd you off waking up to that I can only imagine you want to rectify it immediately. However...

This is only my opinion but I'd hold off using T-Cut on your beloved motor. Especially the black car if it's a metallic paint finish. It's not known to be kind to modern paints with clear-coat and there is a likelihood that you'll marr (lightly scratch or dull) the paint with overzealous scrubbing

Personally I'd wash the panels with your usual car soap but use it a lot more concentrated (like 25/75% soap to water)

Afterwards use a car specific citrus based all purpose cleaner, spray on and wipe off with a microfibre, flipping the towel as you go - which should hopefully remove any oils that may have been in whatever substance has been chucked on your car

If there is still evidence of the substance I'd maybe go ahead with a clay pad using plenty of quick detailer or claybar lubricant and working in straight lines gently go over the whole bonnet or panel before washing down again with car soap and water

If there is still evidence of the substance I could perhaps suggest using something like meguiars ultimate compound and a foam pad to remove a very very fine layer of the upper surface before removing with a clean soft microfibre

Finish with a good quality paint protector like Menzerna Powerlock and perhaps some wax ie Collinite 845

I know it's a lot of hassle, most of these products can be found in a decent car shop but I'm hoping to save you a scratched dull bonnet you'll end up having resprayed

I would definitely try meguiars ultimate compound before T cut, it's less abrasive and I've had good results with it in the past.

Absolute scum .. they deserve their head dunked in a bucket of whatever they've sprayed on your cars!

Can you think of anyone who might have a vendetta against you or do you think it's just some random vandalism attack?

Good luck.

What a huge pity. I do hope it comes off. I can't tell from the pictures, does it go all the way through? 😒

A couple of years ago, there was a spate of twots running over cars (oh the fun &#128545.

No one was ever caught but so many cars were hit.

Should have mentioned i use the coloured t-cut which is a lot less abrasive and very easy to use, and is only very occasionally used and only in emergencies, never had to use it on my present car, but like someone else has said, better to start off with the tar or citrus cleaners, but only gentle at first. Also could use a clay mitt, much easier to use than a clay bar and lasts much longer

Here's our biggest nightmare. Please see photo. Our car was "keyed" deep into the paint, up and down both sides. We had just signed a lease and was given keys to new place in an age 55+ 8-unit condo building in an extremely peaceful community. Everyone is old and my parents who require being driven to frequent medical trips live in the adjacent building.

My wife was coming from a store and wanted to drop some things at the new place before we moved our furniture in a few days later. She saw eight open parking spaces in a row and chose the one closest to the walkway. When she came out 20 minutes later, the car had been "keyed".

Called the police who took her statement and knocked on all the doors of neighbors to find anyone who may have seen anything. No one had.

If you like Sherlock Holmes stories then read on...

Learned later than none of the parking spaces are marked but everyone is supposed to "know" which spaces are "claimed" by which residents. Turns out my wife parked in the space claimed by an 85 year old widow who other neighbors, in our introductory conversations with them, volunteered to us that she is "crazy". I've long ago learned that you can't fight/argue with crazy, especially when you've already had police investigate. An old boss of mine taught me that when faced with someone like that, grit your teeth and "kill 'em with kindness" to have any chance to achieve your desired result.

So I've had many conversations with my "crazy" neighbor since, always with a smile on my face. Sometimes she's a sweet old lady and sometimes she has the attitude of a crazed lunatic, especially when she mentions parking issues. My wife was fighting mad initially and wanted to tear up our lease, forfeit deposits and not move our furniture in. But my wife has also smiled and spoken nicely to our crazed neighbor. So far she has been nice and cordial back to us even while she makes negative remarks about other neighbors and doesn't speak to them.

My old boss also told me to watch someone like that like a hawk so they don't try something again, mistaking your pleasantness for gullibility. So I'm installing motion activated webcams aimed at our front entry and at our car!

At first I was crushed thinking that my mods would have to be suspended for a long time while that budgeted money was repurposed for repainting. After an appropriate post-incident mourning period, I realized that it was best to delay the repaint and continue with my mods. After all, anyone who might judge the scratches in my paint will all just be blips in the distance in my rear view mirror! Cheers!
