Wow, I'm really surprised. Crevier is the dealer that sold me my 335i and is where I usually go for warranty work. I've never seen that type of behavior in the half dozen or so times I've been there, so IME what you experienced was very unusual.

I can also say that I've always been treated well there - they have a very good reputation in the area and try hard to keep it that way.

I went to the dealer for service the other day and I cringed really hard. This older guy comes walking in all cocky goes the the service counter and the guy asks what vehicle he drives and he must of been ashamed or something and he says i have an m3 Thinking he could lie? Realizing that this won't help him get the part he needs he quickly stutters and goes "eer oh well its not a m3 its an m line but its a 335." I've never experienced second hand embarrassment this much, I mean everyone listening could see right through him and tell that he was struggling with his ego.

The best part is when theres a line to pick up your car and the valet pulls your vehicle up you can tell everyone standing there dolls out judgement as if they were the man upstairs.

Just filled with pretentious people. Where we know the underlying reason for such attitudes is a sad one.

There is no lemon law in Canada.

Even if it existed (it doesn't), I doubt any 335i in the Universe is still covered within the term of any Lemon Law.

Central. I'm guessing it is busier in Hudson County, but have not been to dealerships there. I just avoid dealerships unless I *must* go to one. I haven't experienced yelling at dealers like the OP says, but they're just very crowded.

I go to BMW of Ramsey in NJ (formerly Prestige). Everyone is always nice when I'm there and the service facility is great. I only deal with a certain SA there and never had an issue. Customers for the most part are pleasant as well, never seen anything crazy.

This, plus they are wondering why their car they paid $60000 for is having problems their 10 year old Honda Prelude they had in high school never had. And I guess you can stereotype that people with money, especially orange county people with money tend to be more likely to be entitled assholes. But everyones an asshole, regardless of car, especially in southern CA. A-holes everywhere.

I leased my current car from Crevier and the experience was the best car buying process I have ever had. Never dealt with service there. I have had my car serviced at Pacific BMW in Glendale for years and it has always been pleasant, I have always been well taken care of and I have never witnessed people being outwardly rude.

Not all bmw owners, of course.

Definitely *these* bmw owners. If I only wrote "owners" it would have been unclear whether I was talking about the car owners or dealership owners.
My SA friend told me that's it's mostly 3-series owners who are rude...lol

It seems common in the dealership world to have to deal with irate people. Thankfully having left the dealership world I rarely have to deal with it now! For some reason people seem to think that getting angry and being a dick about things will facilitate getting them taken care of faster or in a better manor...which is quite far from the truth.

Bought my car at Crevier but take my car to New Century BMW for service. So far I've had nothing but great service.

Its to bad. I've seen the same thing. But you know something, the owners that really know their cars are better able to discuss problem issues with service advisors and techs. I try to go out of my way to over communicate problems and help the service advisor understand the issue. For the most part service advisors are young people without a lot of automotive experience. How we communicate with them can help them better understand issues and problems.

One thing to remember: SAs are not car people--they're sales people.

I guess I have been very lucky at BMW dealerships across the US. My SAs have been longer term employees and none recommend more than what I came in to service for or can show that I truly need.

I could never get a good deal from Crevier. They offered the lowest on my trade-in. I ended up buying from San Diego and I got a fair deal.

You really are lucky. That sort of treatment is found at indys, not dealerships IME. My majority experience at dealerships has been attempts to upsell or even downright lie about what the cause of an issue is and provide an exorbitant repair/replacement quote. I have a trust issue when dealing with dealerships...sales or service.

I would agree. SAs at dealerships are under pressure to bring in money from service, not just handle your warranty needs. It really pays to know your car so you can deal with them confidently, same as you would when buying the car from a CA.

I work with a guy who told me that a MB dealership tried to get his wife to replace the motor mounts on her MB at something like 25k miles. When my colleague informed the SA that he was a mechanical engineer he retraced his steps a little. Women are particularly vulnerable when going one-on-one with any service writer.

No, not all of them anyway. My SA drives in all of the summer CCA Autocross events for many years now as well as owns and drives (not just stores) a number of BMWs. He is very much a car guy knows a lot about BMWs back to the E30 M3. Maybe this is rare but it's not fair to label them all as just sales guys...

I’ve had the same experience. My BMW SA’s were always friendly and knowledgeable. They never tried to sell me services I did not need. My local VW SA on the other hand quoted me $750.00 for the 40,000 mile service which included various engine “treatments”. I had it done at an Indy for under $100.00 and changed the cabin air filter myself.

Eh, could be an honest mistake for people who don’t pay attention and get confused by BMW’s “m-sport” marketing crap. I expect it’ll get even more widespread with the upcoming M340i. I bet it happens all the time with MB’s “AMG line” or whatever the hell it’s called.
