I wanted to post on this thread as this is the first thread that pops up for timing chain while doing a search.

I had my timing chain fixed exactly 3 years ago and the dealership said they broke again. Thankfully I had extended warranty so they paid for it

Hey everyone,
Has anyone had any success after these many years by turning off ASS, changing the oil more often, and allowing the engine to warm up before driving it hard?
I like to think the original TC on my 2013 328i xDrive has lasted 100k miles because of this reason. I’m up north, make frequent short trips with the occasional highway run, use 0w30 Castrol Edge Euro (made in Belgium) every 4000 miles, and use 91 octane.

Many who followed the same routine had timing chain failures. The only commonality is they all had the same tensioner.
