Favorite Street Track Brake Pads?
I will be looking to upgrade my brake pads with something that has very low dust. I am familiar with Akebono ceramic pads they work excellent? What is everyone's favorite pad with low dust and better bite and less fade that would be considered an upgrade? Thanks.

Ferodo DS2500s have served me well this year. I don't think they are the absolute lowest dusting, but they have been pretty low dust for me.

Unfortunately no-one, to my knowledge but I'm willing to have a 'school day' on this, has found the magic formula for a superb track pad which doesn't squeal. Road pads and track pads are different things.
My personal go-to pads are Pagid RSL1 for track (superb bite and modulation, and they just don't fade; ow dust as well, but be prepared for a LOT of squeal if you run them on the street) and Pagid RS42 for the street (also very good but they can fade a little with very hard use, no squeal, medium dust).

i mentioned street/track. My akebono ceramic pads on my TDI had good enough bite and reduced fade to satisfy me. Are any of these pads ceramic? Thanks

I also prefer BMW OEM MSport brake pads. The brake dust is an indicator that the pads are doing their job quite well while extending the rotor life. |

I've been extremely happy with Hawk 5.0 street performance pads. Great bite, instant warm up and dust that's light in volume, weight and color. It washes right off. Curious if anyone has used any of the more track oriented Hawk pads? |

I had a similar question and was looking for something and I found the Project Mu Euro Sports Excellence.
I wrote a lengthy review on it: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1759486 Basically you are getting DS2500 performance and heat range without the noise, dust, zero warm up time with high braking torque at any temperature. I find them perfect for street and fast driving. DS2500 do not hold up on track and I expect these to perform similar on track... but DS2500 is a 20 year old brake compound and is quite outdated compared to today's compounds. These will easily out perform HPS 5.0 in high speed braking situation - HPS 5.0 is strictly a street pad with a lower heat range. You need to know what you want. If you drive on a track, it is no where near the same conditions you drive on the street. You will either compromise the noise and dust for track performance or you can get a quiet, less dusty pad for less track performance. If you say "track" and are looking at street performance like mountain roads or highway high speed braking - then you are not looking at "track" capable pads. "Street track" is an oxymoron. I believe you are looking for a higher performance street pad which is why I recommend the Sports Excellence. If you want something more track and less street, then there are other pads to look at - assuming you go to a track and do dozens of race laps on a regular basis.
