Scre in RFT

Evening all!

Managed to pick up a screw in my rear tyre today, really not happy about it as knowing my luck I'll end up with a damaged wheel from the tyre fitter!

Anyhow, there appears to be conflicting views about whether its repairable or not - its near the edge of the tyre but in my opinion its within the middle 3/4's.

But, a bit of research suggests that the major tyre fitters won't do RFT repairs & the last thing I want to do is rock up at a tyre fitter's that I have no experience of only to be told that it can't be repaired after they've got the tyre off, forcing my to pay a hugely inflated price for new tyres from them.

Anyone have any experience of RFT repairs? Or am I best to get a pair of tyres fitted? BTW, car's done 16k & tyres have about 5mm left.

Cheers in advance for any responses.

Repair it no problem - so long as not in side wall and you haven't driven excessive distance or speeds
Done it several times

Some places do the vulcanised repairs which is better than a patch

Thanks guys.

Should have mentioned that its only lost 3psi & hasn't triggered the TPMS at all. I only noticed it as I had the window down when I pulled into my street & heard the screw making a noise as the tyre rotated.

Ask yourself - if it was a standard tyre would I repair it?
Theres your answer

Some repairers may be wary that it has been driven flat excessive distances and or at speed and the reinforced side wall would be seriously damaged
I would tend to inflate when I get a warning and repair ASAP
