foxwell NT510
The car is a 2012 BMW 320D f30
The car problems started of with a bonnet open warning then basically everything on the dash started going off. speedo stopped, temp guage all the way up,fuel guage not working, rev counter stopped, tps warning, abs warning, ans srs warning so basically every warning was flashing. Any way. I hooked up my launch reader and cleared all the faults bar the air bags. That says internal fault. I read off the live data and speed sensors are ok. seat belt pods working correctly, pre tensioner's ok. I checked the battery voltage and it was showing 12.6 volts with no engine running. 13.7 volts running, 12.7 with everything turned on . The date on the negative terminal showed it was the original battery so we changed it.( AGM 95 amp replacement). Now my launch reader has no battery registration feature so this is why I bought the foxwell nt510 thinking I would be able to register a battery upgrade but found it will only register like for like.. And that is all I've managed to do with the thing. It will not read any other systems it says communication problem check lead etc? It will read some live data when you go into the manual vehicle selection but it also days no faults. has any one had a problem with this model reader? As to the problem with the car, any Ideas? all seems to be ok now apart from a airbag warning. As said my launch reader shows up internal fault. Any suggestions?? |

If you have a laptop and a 30$ cable you only need E-Sys for changing the battery size and ISTA for the registration. Both programs can be found here in this forum. |

I had the same experience with the Foxwell scanner. Downloaded the BMW software, did all the updates and only once could I get it to read the VIN but it still would not do any of the BMW specific functions. I bought it to code an injector that I replaced and despite weeks of troubleshooting the Foxwell, opening a support ticket, exchanging multiple e-mails the company insisted that my car was the problem. I returned it since it did not work as advertised and was charged a 15% restocking fee for something that never worked. In fairness the OBDII code portion worked like it should have. Just could never get any of the BMW functions to work (battery registration, injector coding, etc). I will not purchase another Foxwell product again. They may work well on E90 chassis but they didn't test their product enough on the F30. I downloaded ISTA and coded the replacement injector without an issue.
