Should I? 2015 435i and Extended Warranty

Hello,

I'm new to these forums and I've found the community immensely helpful.

I purchased my first BMW, a used A/T 2015 435i at Carmax a couple of weeks ago for $24k (Luxury package, M-Brakes, Adaptive M-Suspension, HUD, HK, leather, 19" wheels, top-down cam, other cool stuff. Super clean. [vin:WBA3R1C52FK194587]. The car had 52,200 miles at purchase and it has 54,000 miles now. I commute roughly 130 miles round-trip each day / 200 days a year. The commute is pretty much all highway.

Along with the car, I purchased a CarMax warranty for $4200 for 5 years/120k miles with $500 deductible. Because my commute is so long, I know that the usable life of that warranty is likely to be ~2-2.5 years.

My question is: Do you think the warranty is worth purchasing for this particular car and my particular commute situation? I have 90 days from the date of purchase to cancel the warranty and get my $4200 refunded to finance. Or would it be better to just sock away the cash for an eventual repair. I know BMW repairs can be expensive, and this feels like somewhat of a gamble.

I know that the vehicle was a former lease/fleet vehicle, no accidents, but I do not know how the lessee drove it. I'm also not familiar with the reliability rankings of the 2015 F32/N55. I can tell you it drives amazing and hasn't given me any problems in the two weeks I've had it. I plan on doing regular maintenance myself (oil changes, spark plugs, anything else DIY), and will opt for getting the transmission flushed soon.

I also don't plan on using launch control anymore

Just looking for some opinions.

Thank you for your help!

I bought a 2012 335i one year ago, with 77k miles on the clock. It has the same engine as yours, N55.

I bought an extended warranty, Route66. However I decided to cancel it. The N55 is reliable (in BMW terms) so I decided to save that money for a rainy day.

In my ownership I only replaced items that are not covered by the extended warranty (battery, spark plugs, tires, brakes).

GL on your decision.
