Not an easy task, you have to open the box and find the pins of the flash memory. Sometimes you must desolder the IC en put in on a box to read and store the internal software. Then you have a firmware dump.
But with the latest software you can flash an older one too. That's easy!

And at least flashes the latest update again B2 V1.5.0 with no problem.

That seems to be a new EVO hardware version.

Is the software update menu in settings requiring an ISPBOOOT.BIN or GEMINI_PACK.BIN?

OK, I was more asking if anyone actually knew for these units specifically.
In general yes you could wire up or use the flash chip in a programmer.

I don't really want to downgrade and then find nobody has my current software version for me to roll back to.

I googled and a few pictures look like there are possibly serial port pins from the CPU, might be possible to connect over those..

The mmi unit i have is from ebay.

There seems to be quite a few updates to choose from

I have a 2016 640i that Currently has the NBT IDrive.

What info is required of me so i know which update to choose.

Cheers Guys!

Maybe a sticker on the carton box tells what version you have NBT A,B or B2, it looks like this
NBT01A
EW-BMCP-NBT02B
EW-BMCP-NBT04X

Otherwise take a picture of the screen what tells the current software you have. Do you have issues witch the box you like to repair?

any way to get wireless AA to work?

unit seems to be working as far as wired android auto goes. but will not boot up wirelessly. only when i hook the phone in via USB.

in the AA menu it says my unit supports wireless aa.

beside that it im starting to like it better now.

i just need to uninstall the unit to see my dipswitches are working to use the factory mic/ bt for phone calls and have the rear camera come up when in reverse.

Go into "CarPlay" in settings then "pair device." Once the mmi locates and lists your phone you should get a bluetooth connection confirmation on your phone. After a few seconds wireless AA should launch automatically.

I depends on the version generation, it's BMW HU system from older to newer cars. Headline in general is CCC/CIC/NBT/EVO
Latest version has more options, better screens and slickest software. Around 2019 they sell things like Android Auto and touchscreens in their cars. Not interesting for the Andream guys here

Is there a trick to getting the quadlock connector to fit behind the nbt unit? I’ve been wiggling and trying everything but can’t get the unit to slide all the way back in

What is the recommended unit to buy right now for a 2014 F15 x5 50i? I would like to buy it of Amazon but I see there are a bunch of different models.

I just did the install myself tonight, and this step took the longest (at least it felt that way!). I found the way to get the qualock into place was to move all the existing cables on the back of the unit out of the way so there is a clear/smooth way in for the quadlock, make sure the quadlock connector lock is down so that it can engage the guides, and then try shifting a little (it is tight) while pushing in. I probably tried 25times, and after 10min, got it in. GL!

I have a question to all of you who installed aftermarket camera with your MMI box, did you notice that it shows you more space than it's actually. I mean the guide lines shows there is enough space to park your car but it's not true and you can crash the car if you don't check side mirrors. It's a bit annoying as you can't trust these lines at all. Is there some kind of solution, maybe to make the guide lines wider

Hi I have exactly the same box as you and the same versions, I tried to update it, but no update works, it asks for a GEMINI_PACK.BIN, if you have any news to share with us ...

Finally got my unit installed and PARTIALLY working - This was the latest CIC version purchased from AIOCOAI (formerly Andream) on Ali -

SDK :25.0.00.7.0.0.2.0
Cust : CHL_V1.5.0
MCU Version: 20.12.1.18
HW Version: BMW_CICHL

Carplay apps are showing up, audio is playing etc

I want to use my OEM microphone - Currently, when I hit my steering wheel button, Siri comes up but the Mic is dead - Two questions - Did I still need to run the MIC cable from the A Pillar? If so I have to some rework to do (I have the microhopne and the MIC cable still sitting in a box)... Next - Is there any setting to enable the OEM MIC? I didn't see anything..

In the MMI Settings Menu I see a setting "Using Car's BT Phone" which is currently set to off - What is this? Should it be set on?

Lastly is it worth upgrading the software/is it even posible

Thanks for the Help.. so Close.... And really appreciate everyone's help

You need to turn "Use Car's BT phone" on if you pair your phone with OEM Bluetooth.

Your car has a BMW NBT headunit so you'll need something like this

https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/40003...000559718603.0

or Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Carlinkit-Wir...2QJ3JR4HSWQDFG

Don't know links will work from outside my part of the globe.

Cheapest is direct sale from a China webstore. In the EU they have their own warehouses with fast free shipping and no custom fees. Don't know if this excist outside the EU.
