F36: 225/40/20 + 255/35/20 Will they fit?

Hello all,

I'm a F36 owner since a week and the previous owner added bonus to the car the 405M performance 20" wheels but with totally useless summer tires.

I need to buy new tires now but would really like to buy then with higher sidewall due to bad roads etc. I just can't sell those incredible wheels and buy something cheaper in 19" for a summer set.

The stock 20" wheel diameter is 26.2" vs 27.1" for this new one that I want to install.

Will that be possible or I'm looking at rubbing at the suspension/wheel arch?

Thank you for being here and helping newbies like me. It is much appreciated!

That's too tall. Wouldn't recommend it even on stock suspension (most likely will rub). Speedo readings will be very off.

If you want thicker sidewalls, downgrade to 19" would be a better option.

The downgrade is possible but I'll never get wheels of that quality as the 405M. It will be a damn shame to do this. The suspension is "dAHLer Performance Lowering Springs" and the car sits lower by ~2cm from what I can see(done by the previous owner).

I run 255/35/20 and I only have the slightest rub on full lock. My situation was unique in that the last wheels I purchased off someone were incompatible with our cars so I took the tires and swapped them to my now setup with 624's

You can pm me if you have any questions

Thanks for the reply. I called my tire guys and ordered the standard 20" size Hankook tires. They'll take 5-10 days to arrive so we'll see. I'll probably need to put spacers at the rear as the wheels sit too much inside the arc and it is not perfect.

These are the winter wheels/tires.

Has anyone tried to put 225/40 r20 in the front with M sport suspension?
