Pilot Sport vs 4S?

Anyone have real world experience with these two models?

4s is newer...guessing it is better in “winter” than the last model?

Dry performance? Wet performance?

4S is better in every way.

wear and grip in both dry and wet are probably the best in it's catagory right now.

Do not use any summer tires in temps below 7C, you'll wear it about 50% faster, and about twice as much 0C and below, you'll also crack the compound as well.

While this is important, I would say the lack of grip in those conditions is something to consider as well.

The hardening which leads to the cracking and wear also means the tires won't grip the road very well. I experienced this first hand at road-legal speeds under normal conditions with PSS's in low-30's (F). In the dry it would give you a few hints grip was not idea, but it was really noticeable in the wet.

Agree 100% with this
I've had both the MPSS and MP4S on my M3. The SS is being phased out and the 4S is the successor. Which also means that the SS is slightly cheaper in price, so that is something to take into consideration as well.

I just created a post about this same topic. I have a new set of Pilot Super Sports on the rear of my 340i...should I throw the PS4S on the fronts???

I figured it might make sense to put the newer model on the car but I'm not sure if mixing tires would cause tread related issues...or if the treads are damn near identical.

I think you'd be fine mixing, just as long as both of the front tires are the same, and both of the rear tires are the same. Don't do 1 SS in front and 1 4S in front. Otherwise, I think it would be fine to do.

If you can't reach the limit .... there no difference between them except tire wear.

I had the same question on a thread I made here:
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1666414

I ended up getting MPS4S all around though because I found the right sellers
