N55 Valve Cover hole?

I was looking around with the beauty cover off checking for leaks and noticed my Valve Cover has an open vent type of hole. Is this normal?

You sure that's a hole and not a dead end? I thought someone posted about that previously. An open hole there would send oil everywhere and the CCV hose is in the right side of your picture.

After hours of looking at images online, I found that FCP Euro has the clearest image available. Apparently it's some type of dummy hole with nothing that attaches to it. At least not here in the US.

I’m in the middle of replacing my valve cover and I have the same question. I’m trying to decide if this is intentional or if I’m missing a hose/connection? I did not purchase the car new (purchased as CPO with 26k miles), I’ve had it however for 4 years and 60,000 miles without issue (2015 335xi auto).

I’ve watched numerous videos and everyone seems to have a hose running to this port, except mine does not. I called FCP Euro and they were helpful however we’re not really able to answer the question. They sent me a pic of one of their N55 cars and they have a hose off this connection.

I’ve attached a pic of mine, this is my original valve cover, I’m just starting to disconnect everything and noticed there appears to be an empty hose connection with no hose attached.

In my 14' M235i N55 it's intentional. Don't worry about it.

Thanks for responding/confirming jkoljo!

That’s what I thought, however it still seemed odd and caught me off guard. I will say that of the 3 most popular YouTube videos on the valve cover replacement there were quite a few differences with my N55 versus the others in the videos that all seemed consistent (i.e. wiring, vacuum lines, fuel rails, etc)…this was just one of the differences that I ran into early on as I was disconnecting stuff.
