Driver Restraint System Malfunction

I have a 2013 328i xDrive with around 60,000 miles. A "driver restraint system malfunction" ("DRS") occurred on my (7 mile) drive home Friday. No prior problems.

While my DRS error was active, I lost ability to turn my sound system on or off. I could lower the volume from the steering wheel, but not the knob. I also had the cabin fan continue running after engine was shut off. After we disconnected the battery and reconnected it, the cabin fan problem didn't reoccur, but the DRS malfunction came back.

The battery had low voltage, so we tried replacing the battery, but that didn't fix the issue. Since it's no longer in warranty, I want to know what I'm getting into before going to the dealer. Thoughts?

Have you cleared the codes and checked which ones come back?

Yes, and we got some of the same ones back but also some different ones.

I took it to the dealership today. They said it was the RDC module (which primarily controls the TPM sensors) that was malfunctioning. A bit over $900, it seems to be working fine.

I had wondered whether a TPM sensor malfunction I was experiencing was related, but my husband didn't think so. (I have after market TMP sensors currently on my car with my snow tires & rims and I'm getting my summer tires & OEM sensors on really soon).
