My dealer just told me they will start NA production July 2013 and it will be a 2014 model year.
He also said we will be getting a 4 cyl diesel option for the car too. Looks like a bit of a wait yet for Canada / US. Bummer |

Availability
Waiting until my2014 would be bad news as I've been putting off purchasing a new car with the expectation of deliveries in first quarter 2013. If anyone else has any other reliable information, please share it. Thanks.

The press release on bmw.com states US showrooms in spring, so maybe the lower 50 will be getting them a little quicker? |

I wonder why there's been no mention of the F31 at the NAIAS? (other than the good news that the F31 will be among models that will get diesel engines)

This is my first question as well. Thanks for posting the info! I asked a bunch of people at the BMW area at NAIAS about it and nobody knew anything. I'm pretty sure the one booth babe was making stuff up to mess with me. And not in a fun way

Wow, what a bummer. Why even bother bringing one if there's no new info to share?! I bet they knew all the details about the new 6GC and 4 series concept... lame.

Bimmerfile did an interview the product manager for the 3-series.
He said wagon will come in x-drive only, and 8-speed auto only, for both gas and diesel versions. A still undecided point was what badge they would give the diesel? 328d? |

That's what I had read as well, which led to my confusion.

Shockingly, there was one at the Philly Auto Show last week. And not so shockingly, not a soul on the floor knew a damn thing about it. I was really surprised to see it there. I just don't get why they won't tell anyone when the hell they'll be available for order.

Does the idiotic tv ad about a child asking about neutering their dog sell any cars for them? Oh yeah I forgot -- it's supposed to highlight the highly essential gimmick of being able to remotely "flash" destination address info to one's iDrive. Yeah THAT's what Americans buy BMWs for! How many cars did the "Joy" campaign sell? Is that why they dropped it? |

Still, I'm not going to believe it until I see it in the bmwusa.com configurator. There's no diesel version listed, but F30 328d is not there either, even though it's already out there on the show circuit. |
