+1. Techron is probably effective in cleaning the fuel delivery system from the tank to the injectors but it doesn't clean the intake valves with direct injection engines. That requires intake valve cleaner.

Techron works yet also leaves deposits on the cylinder head too.

Techron is legit. I noticed a huge difference when I used it on my old Jeep, and also noticed an increase in mileage when I switched to Chevron gas in all our cars. While itís true that the valves in our DI engines wonít reap the benefit of fuel system cleaners like Techron for cleaning the valves, donít forget that piston tops develop carbon buildup too, so Techron can still help in that regard; not to mention helping keep injectors clean as well.

So far as valves go, walnut blasting seems to be the primary solution. I do plan to use that CRC GDI cleaner before my next oil change. I have an endoscope and will try to take some before and after pics when I do. Iím really curious to see if that stuff works. If it does, it can save us a lot of hasssle.

FWIW...

I user a bottle of Techron on my last fill up before oil change (every 5k).

No issues, car runs like an absolute top.

I put a bottle of Techron in my 328 and my wife's 128 this past weekend. I noticed a considerable improvement in the 328's throttle response and it seems the injectors are much quieter also. The 128i seems to run smoother, but that is a silky-smooth, easy-revving car anyway. Haven't noticed any change in MPG yet, but I'll be watching it over the next few fill-ups.

That's my understanding too. I'm about to add a bottle of the Techron to my tank, run about 700 miles (several tanks' worth, of course), and then do the 30K mile oil change. After that, every 5000 miles for both.

its the ONLY thing that can clean the deposits off an e46 SULEV fuel sender (the tanks are 100% sealed, so fixing a non working fuel level sender or pump means an 8K tank plus labor) and restore it to operation. When mine gets wonky (we only have shell stations), i add TWO bottles, fill the tank and let it sit over the weekend, invariably the level starts working again on monday. when i first bought it i had to do this two tanks in a row, but it works now and works reliably for 10-12 months before i have to do it again.

I been using only chevron 94 octane with 0% ethanol, so I get a good dose of the techron addictive with every fill up. Always ran fine, instead of buying techron separately, why don't you just get chevron 94 gas ? It comes with techron generously added already. From what I read, it's better to do it this way because you are cleaning it long term rather than just cleaning it once with a bottle then starts the buildup again. Also, ethanol is extremely bad for our cars, in case somebody reading this but doesn't know.

I can only dream of ethanol free 94 octane gas. Around here 93 is easy to find, but I believe state law requires ethanol blends. The nearest ethanol free gas station I know of is 400 miles and two states away.

Try marinas. I don't know about 94 octane but most marinas have ethanol free gas, as too many boats can't use even E10.
