Consider it an hour worth of fresh air and exercise towards your health.
Simple things such as warm water, some Sonax wheel cleaner and a soap foamer attachment for your water hose can help speed up the process a bit without completely freezing your a$$ off. |

Soap and water? LOL seriously though, by hand from late march through November. Automatic car wash with soft chamois rollers from Mid Dec-early March.
Never had a problem with this method.

I used to live in Chicago and would simply in the winter go to a touchless car wash...the ones with the pressure washers you use yourself, or if it was above freezing, I would do it in my driveway with buckets of hot water.
This is not rocket science.

Ceramic coatings makes waterless wash really easy, I use Adams waterless wash spray with a damp waffle towel. Follow up with detail spray. Takes 15 minutes tops .
When I go to the snow I use a foam spray , wipe down and then polish up with detail spray. Last edited by Bluesky4u; 02-23-2020 at 01:44 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

I’m lucky enough to have a hose bib and drain in the garage. I rinse off the salt and follow up with optimum no rinse using two buckets. When I lived in Seattle I would just use optimum no rinse most of the time. If the car is really dirty I spray a more concentrated optimum no rinse in a spray bottle and let dwell. Works well with the F80 and my black MDX with soft paint. Both cars are ceramic coated with Cquartz UK.

Someone is really emphasizing being an Engineer, repeatedly, lol. What has being an engineer to do with washing a car?
Buddy, there are busier professions and figuring out how to wash a car from already existing countless threads isn't rocket science. PLUS, you already created a car wash thread with so many replies just a few days back. In case you forgot: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1695462 I guess your stackoverflow thread counter should be through the roof |

In my neck of the woods, all I care about is getting the salt off.
I found a self service car wash. I rinse, high pressure, with most of the time spent on the undercarriage, wheel wells, etc. Turn to high pressure soap, cover the car, rinse again. Bring my own towel and dry. $5 and 8 minutes, about every other week in the winter. Results are far better and any auto wash I've been to. |

haha, exactly! It's all about passion and enthusiasm. I spent about 45 minutes cleaning just my summer rims yesterday, takes longer when there's no functional water hose around, and already ordered Gyeon ceramic coating which will take a lot more time than that
