I don’t get why a lot of people get caught up with boost numbers only. Boost without timing is like a microwaved hot pocket that has a cold center. 🧢

No, infact, most people run E45-50 on the stage 2+ OTS E30 map as that seems to be what the cars like the best (50/50 E85 and pump gas mix). E30 isn't really able to support the timing targets with the amount of boost the tune runs based on all the logs. The fuel trims are also consistent with the tune expecting more than 30% ethanol. You might be able to get away with lower E% if your pump gas quality is very good.

It's also important to note that this tune is basically maxing out stock turbo so there's really nothing left in terms of more boost with a custom tune.
Curious at what point the stock TMAP sensor should be upgraded to the 3.5 bar TMAP sensor? FCP Euro sells the VDO brand version for about $62. Seems like a logical upgrade if there's any chance of hitting the limit of the stock sensor.

In his defense he was only talking about boost numbers in the context of the HPFP crash, where timing is not relevant. Not in terms of power. But yes, you need both to make power.

Technically its a 22.5psi threshold. But i think the rule of thumb is over 21psi target/actual you should upgrade.

Thank you for that. But yes i was talking in reference to the hpfp trying to keep up with the fueling required for that boost level

Yeah, just kind of a bummer because the custom map felt better and I paid $600 on top of that. I wonder if Cary could tone down the custom tune or it might just be time to upgrade the hpfp and retune.
Yeah, you fell into the custom tune trap. It's unfortunate you spent the money on it with stock turbo and turbo fueling. It's also unfortunately that I am pretty sure Cary is going to charge you for any additional tune, i.e., if you upgrade HPFP or turbo, based on another users posts here when he had a tune then changed hardware and wanted a retune.

Sure he can tone down the custom tune, then its basically just going to be the OTS map lol... And once you upgrade the HPFP, the custom tune is basically just going to be the OTS stage 2+ map, unless you run very high ethanol content and want to try to squeeze in a little more timing. There's no room left for more boost on stock turbo.
I tricked Cary into retuning mine after changing the lpfp for free lol.. so it can happen

**Update**

I showed Cary my stage 2 OTS E30 map and he decided to adjust my custom tune to clean up my timing. He said, he turned down the boost a “tad”. Cool of him to do this without charging me. Will log and post later today.

How gracious of a tuner to fix something they should have done right the first time.

Just found this thread, good numbers for the stock hpfp. My stock hpfp e30 tune from Cary always ran strong. Took the n55 oem turbo 1/4 record with it. I can shoot you my logs if you want to compare them.

Post them, especially if you have one from that run.

Well, if you’ve read any of my posts you’d know he tried to tune my car, and couldn’t even provide a stable map without drivability issues even after 10+ revisions.

Whereas at the same time Halim only needed six revisions on my car, all of which ran perfect, while he kept dialing it into what is now the Stg 2+ E30 OTS map for the N55, and my car put down 442whp/507wtq on a Dynojet w/ it.

The whole time Cary was blaming things on my car, even tho Halim’s maps were great, and wouldn’t provide any amount of refund despite his inability to tune my car correctly.

So yeah, screw him. And screw any tuner that would provide the OP with a tune with such terrible logs. He’s who is shooting himself in his own foot, by providing such tuning services.

New logs from custom tune adjustment. Also, running E35 per Halim's suggestion.

Yeah, I saw that. It dip into the 1400psi range. I'm surprised I don't feel any hesitation or anything of that sort. Timing looks a lot better though, so stoked on that at least.
