e-LSD and donuts/drift

Haii, initially i thought that to drif/donut/burnout, you need to have a lsd installed.

Just something interesting to share with you guys, esp for those who were wondering if our car can drift despite not having a lsd

So i try to play with the e-lsd that these cars came with
(Hold traction off button for 10 secs, to fully activate e-lsd function)

Surprisingly, you can! But not as smooth/engaging as having the mechanical lsd of course

A short clip of me doing donut (still a newbie though)

I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but I think to do CONTROLLED drifts you need a true LSD. Otherwise you can pull it off donuts with eLSD just as you have shown.

Does anyone have solid documents on on how eLSD works on this car. I drive aggressive and my rear brake pads look new.

Are you new to owning and operating a car????
Wtf do you think the lsd has to do with your brake pads??
Your cars braking is roughly 80% done by the front, which is why literally every car has massively more brake dust on the front rims.

The E-LSD apparently uses the brakes to emulate what a real LSD should. So that question is quite valid if you are thrashing the car with DSC off all day everyday.

the function only engages with DSC off. even if you drive in sport + it only does the normal abs function, so you won't see accelerated wear. but that's the main downside of it. instead of actually helping you put the power down, it's using the brakes to keep the other wheel spinning so it's slower when actually trying to set lap times.

I'll humbly stand corrected. Seems like a ridiculous way to mimic something that could've just been a flat out mechanical piece

Yes very new at driving because I still can't drive an auto

Thanks everyone for your comments. I wish this was better documented. To run with full DSC off is quite brave as she is quite the handful with all the electronics disabled. It really needs lsd like the m340.

And the most frustrating part is the new M340i comes with one standard. For whatever reason it was a "hidden" option on F-series, not even advertised on the vehicle build website.

What's funny is I've done probably 20+ dragy runs without an issue with DSC Off. I still wouldn't push it around corners though unless i had a whole lot of space. Really I'd say the fastest mode around an actual track is the traction mode (just tap, not long hold) because it gives you some slip with linear throttle output but still keeps the car reeled in.
