To anyone looking for a spare tire solution for our F30 335's

Got this for myself and can't imagine driving my car without a spare now. Absolutely a must have for anyone with non run-flats tires. But even with run-flats, there is only a limited distance you can drive on a damaged tire or you might not be able to drive at all if there is a severe damage to the tire. I was completely relying on BMW Roadside Assistance before, but good luck with that if you are in a remote location (it will take hours for the tow truck to show up as I just learned).

It doesn't take up much space in the trunk even though our cars don't have a dedicated space for it (shame on BMW).

Got mine from bimmerzone, great guys to deal with (Vincent, in particular)!

Anyone else is using this product?

seems a bit steep for a spare $430

It isn't cheap, but it's an OEM solution. You can always re-sell it to another owner once you move away from F30 or use it for your next car if it happens to be E9x M3 (F30 335 and E9x M3 use the same spare).

Can you post an image of how you're storing it in the trunk? I seem to be confused as to whether or not this solution has some sort of stowaway advantage.

Seems like it would just be cheaper to get a cheap wheel and tire from Tirerack for less than $200 and with that option you wouldn't be limited to a certain speed.

Not my car, picture from bimmerzone website. You do get a significant space advantage with this, wouldn't want to carry a full size wheel in the trunk all the time.

Is this locked down in the trunk some how, or just sitting loosely?

Did it come with a jack? I’m already limited with space in my F33.

Right now with my goflats I carry a plug kit, air compressor and slime bottle. They all fit in the spot behind the rear seat where the wind deflector goes. I’ve plugged a runflat in the past so it’s doable.

Nothing new, many use these. I've had mine since back in 2009 in my E92 days

I keep mine in the special storage bag that has straps and carabiner rings that attach to the tie down points in the trunk to hold it securely in place. Also keep the jacking kit in the same bag with tire.

I only paid $100 for mine new off Ebay.

I actually find it to be a pita because even though its compact spare I still need to remove it any time I want to put anything bigger than a shoebox in the trunk

Keep it just in case I dont feel like waiting for AAA or BMW

Does anyone know if you can stand it upright and bungee cord it to the side of the trunk or is it too tall?

Why not just get a can of fix a flat and tire plugs? Wont work in every situation but should work in most.

Also looking for a non-run flat solution. Upgraded 2004 330xi to 2016 340i xdrive. No spare and no jack. Have non-run flat Blizzaks mounted on new wheels coming from Tire Rack tomorrow.

Thinking of hitting a salvage yard to pick up a jack from an older model BMW (they have one) but have a couple of questions:
1. The jack design for the 04 and 16 are different models. Could I use that lever-armed jack (i.e. from an older model 3 series) in my 16 vs. the newer scissor jack? I looked up the weight of the '16 and it's about 400 lbs more than the '04, but unable to find the weight tolerances of the two jacks.
2. Are the jack point dimensions the same in the 04 and 16? i.e. can the little rectangle piece from the jack of an older model fit into the 16 jack point space?

Supposed to snow tomorrow, so won't drive the 16 to the salvage yard (90 miles away) to test the jack point sizes. Any insight is appreciated!

Will change a tire on the side of the highway, but likelihood of my futzing around on rural Idaho highways patching and refilling a tire are about nil...
Thanks in advance!
