So x-ph has the Remus muffler on eBay for $530: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Remus-Exhau...k/222921442081

eBay occasionally runs their 15% off coupons, which means you could snag the Remus muffler for $450 shipped. Buy a set of tips (maybe quads) and pay a muffler shop to weld them up to the muffler and install for ~$200 maybe.

Any reason not to follow this idea? Seems like it would be half the price of the normal Remus system. This is my plan as of now for when eBay releases their next coupon.

You could but not worth the hassle to me and I love the tips. I plan to get the complete set on a Black friday deal.

Anyone have a video of the Remus catback with catless DP? I just bought the Remus system second hand and wonder how it sounds with catless. Most vids I could find on youtube were with the Remus catted DP.

I've pretty much owned every exhaust setup possible on either my F22 or F30 with the N55 EWG. Very experienced with exhaust on other cars. Have done some custom stuff.

Anybody that knows exhaust system would take a look at the build quality of the "MPE" and laugh.

Shit welds, garbage finish on the tips that won't last 2-3 years. It's grossly overpriced and there is maybe a 3-4% change in exhaust note and it's mostly obnoxious burps coming down on the rpms.

Here what it looks like after 30k....

Anyways,

Remus hands down.... Easily best axle back on the market for the $. Don't waste your money and end up buying a second exhaust in 3 months. I've had a couple sets over the years (e53 4.4, E46 M3, 135). Build quality is 9.9/10.

A good exhaust should not over-power any other external audible outputs from the car. For example, with some moderate acceleration, I can hear my turbo start to spool up, I can hear the mechanical sounds of the engine moving up the rpms, very slight intake noise from the eventuri system. And finally, a nice balanced exhaust note. When I floor it, everything comes tother, nothing overpowers one aspect of the vehicle.

Nothing sounds worse or is more annoying than just listening to the back exhaust overpower, drone, vibrate, and essentially dominate the acoustics of the the car. It's a fine balance that takes lots of trial and error and $..... otherwise you look and sound like an idiot... can you think of anything more annoying on the road than some shit exhaust system blasting bye rattling your windows?

Anyways - I might sound crazy... but cars are my thing and I'm a perfectionist. I did extensive research on this since 2014 when I purchased her. Went through almost every setup and this was my favorite by a long shot... liked it so much I ordered 2.

I got a good one

Catless with Remus = no drone

Best setup on the market. I've tried about 20 combos.

DO NOT get the Remus mid-pipe. stick with axle baxk.

It's barely louder because the videos on youtube are revving when the valve isnt open. Trust me it's just as loud as Remus...
No it's not.

The one I bought has the mid pipe, hopefully it doesn't drone with the smaller resonator.

Do not install it - return it.

Horrible drone, insanely loud. Remus missed on that one.

Midpipe does nothing but create excessive noise on this particular exhaust.

either rock the axle back with stock DP or go catless DP and get the big performance gains.

I ended up with Remus Axle back with 2 different brands of Catless DPs on the m235 and 335 (can't remember their names, it's mostly all the same shit).

Best sounding setup I've ever heard for the N55.

My youtube account was deleted... the video might be on the forums here.

I bought it second hand as the entire system. I might just install the axle back and see if I like it enough.

I've had the ER catless downpipe on the car for 3-4 years, now that the car is FBO I figure the stock exhaust is the last potential bottleneck. Although I'm not 100% convinced I'll see a performance gain. If the Remus midpipe is the same diameter I probably won't install it.

Im not sure what mods you have to your car, how you drive, how loud you like it.

Sound is subjective. For example, some guy commented on Mikes store that the "midpipe" virtually eliminated the rasp in the exhaust. The N55 has no rasp.. guy has no idea what he's talking about.

Save yourself the hassle.

I've heard the exhaust and spoke to mike and a couple dogs in the community and we all agreed it was way too much.

It's just 2 pipes ($700 MSRP extra), the axle back portion is the same.

I figured the power gains they show are only really in conjunction with their catted downpipe.

Really any axle back won't do a whole lot if you just throw in a DP.

catless DP and a tune - I prefer Bootmod3.

Thats were you'll het 85% of your gains.

After that - upgrade internals... chargepipe, intercooler, reduce as must rotational mass as possible... then Pure stage 2 map 2 93.

Thing rips so hard I just had to upgrade the fuel pump.

are you talking about generic aftermarket eBay tips?

I would highly recommend not doing that.

The tips are manufactured to a very high degree of detail, materials and overall engineering. thus their price....

They bolt on and if your anything like me, I spent 2 hours dialing the bitch in so it was perfectly straight...... you'll have a hell of a time welding tips on.

Also the tips have the built in exhaust flap for cold starts. easier on the car, don't have ziptie the module under the rear suspension (hood).

do it once, do it right.

I have no issues with Borla. I run a cutback type-s on my SRT.

However, I would never put one of these on a 335.

$1,400
No valve actuator
50 lbs
7 exhaust sections with about 5 clamps
and probably the most bland / cheap looking exhaust tips they could find.

hard pass.

I'm running a Remus axleback with a VRSF catless dp. I don't have any sound clips, but I can try to get something recorded if you're interested. It would only be startup and some revs though...I don't have a GoPro and I'm not about to strap my iPhone X to the back of my car for some runs. Though I could also try to do some interior sound clips while driving. Let me know.

Damn did it really take 2 hours to line up the tips? Or you mean do the whole exhaust job?

Also the valve should be before the tips, Remus sells different tips so I would think if people want to swap tips, that wouldn't involve messing with the valve.
