Tires for F32
Hello everybody!
I was looking for an advice. I got 428i xdrive Coupe. I live in Chicago where the winter can be really harsh. What kind of all season tires would you recommend? |

None. No “all season” tires are reliably capable for stopping/turning in winter, although most will get you moving. Either dedicated winter tires or the new category of “all weather” with snowflake symbol, but you won’t enjoy those the rest of the year.

I've had the stock continental all season run-flats for two winters now, I'm in Milwaukee area, just couple hours north of you It does the job but I believe Michelin A/S 3+ is rated at the top in this category, the stock all season run-flats are rated very low, not even in top 10 I believe, so yeah switching to A/S 3+ would be better than driving with stock tires, even their summer and rain performance is rated much higher than the stock tires, I checked a lot of reviews for all season tires when I was looking to upgrade. However, I never felt confident in snow, I had to be very cautious and lost traction easily if I wasn't careful. My girlfriend uses dedicated winter tires on her Civic Type R and I could feel the tires crushing the snow beneath it, her car felt so much more in control, be it snow or ice. So for the next winter I have already purchased blizzaks, they were on some closeout sale on Tire Rack, paid around $600 for the set (just checked, they are still on sale), putting MPSS on my new summer wheels in couple of weeks. The stock runflats are bad, noisy, ride quality suffers too.

I went with Continental Control Contact from Discount Tire last year and love them. Smooth, quiet ride but better grip, cornering and feel than run flats. With X-drive no issues year round.

I had a 530i loaner with Hankook Ventus all seasons - handled surprisingly well, even compared back to back to my car with Michelin PS4S on same roads, similar conditions, same driving style.
Look up OEM tires for 2019 530i xdrive sportline for exact model/name of tires. |

So true. Great advice. Dedicated winter tires are still the right choice. I had excellent experience with Pirelli Sottozero tires (still have them in my garage after relocating to SoCal from East Coast).
