Flash ECU for B47 turbodiesel engine

I have a F30 with B47 engine but is a 320d ED, so is delivering only 120kw ( 163 hp ) instead of nominal 190 hp.

I've dropped a look on realoem and it seems the fuel injectors and the turbine is the same as a 190 hp B47 car has.
So, i'm thinking it would be very safe to map it to the nominal 190 HP.

I cannot find any information on the internet about someone who flashed an ED. Some people flashed non-ED from 190 to 210/220 HP, but nobody touched an 163 hp.

Is something special about them ?

You can get get a tune for it for sure, but you really need to have someone very familiar with that engine and that ECU. I would wonder if the ED has different emissions equipment?

Always do very deep searching for a proper tuner, because in Europe it's even worse than here: 1 in 3 car people claim to be tuners, which will give you filth. The joke is that there are more 'tuners' than customers.

Might try contacting BW Chiptune in the UK for some advice. Very knowledgeable guy with long term success record tuning all types of BMWs. If anyone has done it, he will have.

It is normal version of B47 engine 190 km / 400 nm. Power is lowered to 163 due to taxes.
You can easy get 220 / 450 nm after safe tune

Based in Scotland - Mentioned BW Chiptune before but I have just self-installed a remap from a renowned UK tuner Evolve Automotive as I can easily return it to stock at any time myself.

You buy the tune, they send you a piece of software which run on a Windows laptop using and E-net cable via the OBD2 port. You send them a couple of small files and they send you the remap which is installed using the same software / cable.

Takes less than 5 minutes to install, No errors and fuss free. Job done.

F31 335d X-drive now running 380+hp / 540 ft/lb of torque. No smoke, low 4 secs 0-60, overtaking is a breeze, upper 40s mpg normal out of town driving on a run....whats not to like?

They have maps for 316d / 318d / 320d so I am sure they will have a map to suit you and as its all done online it can be done anywhere.

Look them up here:
https://www.evolveautomotive.com/

also look at all their videos on Youtube and you will see they are a top outfit.

I have the F31 320dX ED version with original 120kw (163hp). This is completly the same car as the 140kw (190hp) version, its just a added parameter in vehicle order (S843 Power Reduction)

I have deleted the parameter 843 and flashed a new ''software update'' to the DME. (my engine's ECU)
My 320d now has 190 hp and the car runs noticeably better at higher rpm.

To do this you need E-sys.

This includes both coding of FA (Vehicle order) and flashing of DME (ECU for engine).

I have used 2 PCs, one for coding and the other for flash.

I have used two different versions of E-sys;
3.27.1 with PRO Launcher, psdzdata LITE (For coding. You must have a launcher to code) Disk space approx. 5gb
3.33.4 without launcher, psdzdata FULL (For flashing. You MUST have FULL to flash ECU) Disk space approx. 140gb

Example of FA coding.
https://blog.uobdii.com/bmw-vo-codin...nd-enet-cable/

Example of ECU flash.
https://www.car-auto-repair.com/how-...h-bmw-f11-ecu/

After new software was flashed into DME, I used ISTA + to remove all the error codes that came during flashing.

Now you're good to go!

Oh boy, i've just seen this post.
So, on my option list using a VIN decoder i don't see S843 Power Reduction.
Is it possible to be present but not listed ?

Dummy beginner question: that 140 GB psdzdata contain the ECU map for my DME ?!

I will try to install the tools on my laptop.

Because that VO option is not listed in any VIN decoder tool. i'm 99.9 % that this will not work, and i will have the same problem as this guy has: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...31&postcount=3

Then it will be in the vehicle type, known as the Type Schlussel (type code)

For example, 320d ed from 2016 is 8D11; 320d from 2016 is 8C51

You edit that in the FA and then it will calculate the different power SWFL.

I hope you don't have to deal with powerclass functions.

Hm, indeed my car is 8D11-EUR-07-2015-F30N-BMW-320d_ed

So, in order for me to get the correct PsdZData i should get my ilevel or can i use the latest one that is available on the internet ?

It seems this guy who has the N47 engine was facing the same issue.

[sorry, first I have to laugh here because of what your user name means. I do have a good general knowledge of the Romanian language]

You can use the latest available psdzdata.

Factory powerclass coding changes requires dde to be <10 hours of engine run time, so I'm guessing that you are past that.

Your best (easiest) option is to get it tuned for the 190hp version (or more!) with custom flashing of the dde. Some people can do it remotely over internet with enet cable and a Windows laptop.

LOOOOL !!!!
I've used it because i knew that no one will understand it.
I don't know how you guys have Romanian language skills, you have wifes from Romania or ?

On topic:
Is useless for me to get the PsdzData because i have more than 10 hours.
So, I need a remap of the DDE; along with the change of the TypeSchlussel ?

I've found some guys from Germany and i'm waiting for a quota from them.

If they don't do it for too convenient of a price, I'm sure it can be done from Houston. Bumping up to just 190hp is way simple.

Famous last words

As a good friend of mine would say, "they're cabbage!"

I'd highly recommend letting Houston take a look at that problem (gratuitous Apollo 13 reference)
