Road Course + Tuned = ??

Anybody here consistently roadcourse track + tuned?

Ill be heading to Buttonwillow on 2/28-29 weekend for a 2 day track event. Last time I went all stock now I unleashed bunch of power and worried if itll overheat. Ill probably bring my laptop to detune it , if it does overheat.

BM3 "Stage 2"
factory oil cooler (hot weather pack)
temps will be 70-75

thank you

Good question. If it overheats could switch to MPSSK tune or stage one. Let me know how it turns out though!

I have been running mine tuned on stage 1 for many track days without issues even on the real hot days.

Should be fine as long as you have an upgraded FMIC to keep your IATs low. If you're worried about oil temp put the heat on, most tracks require windows open so I do that for some extra cooling performance.

I'll be honest, a friend's RS blew up on track and it was stock. I love the car but I can definitely see how that might be a problem.

Was that at Streets? I was chasing a grey RS that blew coolant last month.

Sounds like another unlucky owner. His lost oil pressure and popped mid-session at Pocono very early last season. He has a reputation for driving a little harder than he should. His Cayman met a similar fate and then his parking garage happened to flood a week later. Rough year.

I run PFC08 which have been great. Definitely get SS lines and Dot 4 fluid like Castrol SRF.

I run PFC08's as well. Great pad with great stopping power. Motul 660 or SRF both work great. I find SS lines unnecessary. Proper tire and brake management are key to overcoming heat problems. Also, running all DSC off will save your brakes since they won't be used my the system to correct over driving your car.

Do you have the track handling package with the extra radiator? I use the R4 mostly and sometimes the MSport pads which also work fine.

I have the track pack with the extra radiator. No cooling issues in FL during summer months and I run a stage 2 tune as well.

So the stock cooling system is fine for stock powertrain and 25-30 min sessions.

I've run into reliability problems with the stock powertrain when the ambient temp is > 90F and the car is being run in back to back sessions (different run groups) with my gf and myself.

This is where the M cars shine. They can pretty much take 60 minute sessions without an issue.
