Weird squeak after Wavetrac install

Hi All,

Hoping you can help me with an annoying chirping/squeaking developed after I recently had a Wavetrac unit installed. Please see the video in the link below(well its really just audio). I had the car on jack stands and in 1st, accelerated to 10-15 mph and let off the gas, and.... SQUEAK.

This seems to happen intermittently every 30 seconds or so while driving for the first 5-10 minutes of driving and then will go away again until everything is cold again.

I thought it was a suspension bushing or something but this is doing it on jackstands with no movement in the subframe or real load on the drive line. Now I am starting to think U-joint or an axel seal?

wtf?? I was expecting like a high pitched squeak or something, not a saxophone noise!

I have no clue man, but it doesn't sound suspension related...

I have to say LOL @ this also. Totally unexpected noise. Can you place the camera in different positions and repeat the test to narrow down exactly where its coming from?

Also, have you went through the break-in procedure yet and changed the fluid?

Yea, so weird, right?

My wife helped me to listen and we thought it was the right rear wheel, so i rebuilt the brakes and no solution!

Ill try more tomorrow.

I am at 900 miles on the diff and diffsonline said to change fluid at 1200 so i have not yet done the the break in service

Darn, there goes my theory about it being vacuum related.

Could it be your exhaust flap maybe?? It opens briefly when letting off the gas like you described. Of course, it also opens in other situations, so if the noise is ONLY when you left off the gas, then that would rule the flap out.

You could maybe send them an email and share the video and ask if they have ever heard it. Has it happened since day 1? I am also a little optimistic that the fluid change will fix it.

Already did. Well see what they say. It only started about 100 miles or so ago and goes away after 5-10 mins or driving.

Since it wasn't an immediate problem, in my mind this is another sign it could go away with the fluid change. You could have a lot of material built up in there from the break in.

Let's take bets.

Jeremy man says normal break in. I say u-joint is toasted. Any others?

Following. Won't sleep until I know it wasn't a clown. Definitely didn't expect that.

Car is back at the shop today so hopefully we'll have the mysterious clown fart diagnosis shortly.

While highly entertaining, I am looking forward to this being resolved .

Word has it that the diff bushings are totally shot. I am skeptical based on symptoms, but also a bit frustrated since the diff was only put in 900 miles ago and I specifically asked about bushing replacement and they said they were "fine".

Install on Monday and I'll report back. Upgrading to solid mounts while we're in there.

That's a very odd thing to be making such a bad noise. I sincerely hope that fixes it. Let us know how harsh those solid mounts are please, I am considering them as well.

Yea, well see. I already have delrin subframe mounts and theyre AWESOME. A little harshness but not much at all. Thats said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and i am definitely more interested in performance without much interest in comfort or luxury. Ive never been sensitive to nvh.

Will report back mid next week.

New mounts fixed it!

Went with the turner delrin/aluminum mounts and WOW they are LOUD. They are awesome and handling is improved and i really like them. However with the delrin subframe bushings and diff bushings it definitely sounds like i am in a race car. These are not for those who a sensitive to nvh.

Good to know... I might consider the inserts, but definitely not solid mounts.
